Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I have a question regarding using UpgradeMe whilst being a VFF Red member.

Looking at this link

https://www.virginaustralia.com/eu/en/specials-offers/upgrademe/upgrades-velocity-members/

it implies that if I booked a SYD-LAX premium economy fare that i CAN'T use UpgradeMe points to request an upgrade from Premium economy to business as I'm a Red member.

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

@NDiddy , yes that is correct. Upgrade me points on long haul (HKG/LAX) international is only available to SG or WP.

FLIGHT UPGRADES After a little extra luxury? Use your Velocity Points to upgrade on Virgin Australia flights.

I feel like I should DM you directly serfty ;) - Thanks for answering that. Shame as I have a few points that would have been handy to use for upgrades. I guess this has been discussed to death so won't start questioning the logic behind this.

At a guess I’d presume it’s a way of looking after their premium FF’s?

Plus that they protect FF redemptions on that route i.e. they don't release awards generally on that route save in limited circumstances either.

@NDiddy, don't feel too bad. Even the Golds and Plats who are travelling in Premium on this route don't always get the points upgrade.

However, you can - as a lowly Red (drumroll please.....) move your bum from a coughpy economy seat to the less coughpy Biz cabin on most domestic flights with your point stash. I am one of you. And I just migrated to The Business on a SYD-MEL sector. Total flying time of 1 hour I think. But I will be enjoying my culinary degustation and sofffffft reclining armchair all the way. I may even ask for jim jams.

Go forth young one and UPGRADE!
