Tips on Keeping healthy while flying

Drink lots of water (avoid alcohol).

Try to sleep as much as you can on the plane (long haul).

Go for an in flight walk to stretch your legs, and when you're in transit.

Enjoy fresh foods and avoid high fat/sugar foods when flying. This is hard because the body becomes tired and craves this sort of food. Also most airline lounges serve slops and it's hard to find actual high quality fresh food there. I usually find some good fresh salads at a cafe or restaurant.

Don't drink too much alcohol so that when you wake up in the morning you don't know where you are.

Wear loose, stretchy and very comfortable clothing if you rarely travel in a fare class that includes airline pyjamas !

But still try to keep to smart clothing. Someone once told me that I might have more chance of an upgrade at check-in if I was dressed in a classy suit, heels, best handbag etc

Fortunately I was at the airport early that day, so I had a lot of time to go to the toilet and take off the full makeup, jewellery, pashmina and then change into yoga pants so I could take my seat in Y ! :(

Remember to do the stretching exercises every couple of hours, and prevent a DVT by wearing appropriate compression socks or stockings.
