I was replying to a thread about things to do in LIM. And it got me thinking.

We have many people all over the world and people like me who travel to a particular city and/or country often. Perhaps we could start a list or a Wiki page? Somewhere people could nominate themselves as having a reasonably sound knowledge of that location. I have a good knowledge of Lima and Peru, Santiago, Rio de Janiero and others. I'm sure we could create an extensive list.

So, members could review the list and ask advice via PM or via the destination guide forum tagging that person or persons. What do you think? Of course airports and surrounds would be most important, but I can see many other advantages. Hotels, museums, restaurants, drivers, etc..

Obviously it would be a purely optional input. And upon signing up, potential members could be asked if they want to be involved . Or you could nominate yourself

I would suggest a Wiki for each city so members can add their tips / suggestiones. Eg hotels, restaurants, must sees / dos, transport options etc

I love your suggestion and will be discussing it with admin and looking at the best way of implementing it soon.

Thanks @support . I believe the idea has merit. Along the lines of what @kpc said, a wiki page would be best. Something you could edit as the need arises.

Think Admin needs to look at new sign ups being made aware, but limiting them to input until 10 or 20 posts, to prevent spamming. And us old farts too ;)

sign me up for Lima, Peru (in general) , Rio, Santiago, Melbourne, Auckland...

Just a follow up to my suggestion, @support has anything concrete (or even fluid) come of initial discussions regarding this?

We have had discussions and I have been working on an initial draft of a wiki, but it is by no means in an operational state. I shall send you a link so you can suggest changes to me to help move it forward to a launch-able position.
