Pay bill through Paypal by using Amex card, but still only receive 0.5 rewards points

Anything that goes through AP will be government spend and as far a I can see plat edge and explorer all pay 0.5/dollar
It's really only good if you don't have a MC or VISA that earns more then 0.5 equivalent airlines points/$
A decent points hound should have a backup card though :)

I must be doing my maths wrong... so 2000 FlyBuys points is worth 870 Velocity points, or just over 1000 during the 20% promo. The Coles MC gives you 2 FlyBuys per dollar. How are you getting over 1 Kris Flyer point per dollar?

Whoops- I meant velocity points. I was thinking of the same transfer ratio from the AMEX program
 
I received 2 pts per $ on Amex Expllorer last Thursday for council rates via AP PayPal.

I paid a council bill as a test recently and got 2ppd.

Assumed it was just one of those councils that didn't trigger 0.5 ppd
 
I think they fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paid via postbillpay PAYPAL on my explorer last week:
car rego, 2 x utility bills and all got 2PPD ...one bill was same as what I paid in April which only got 0.5PPD

I think we shouldn’t talk about this anymore, the topic stops here. Amex fixed it or they have not reflected what PostBillPay has changed? I’ll del my post tomorrow.
 
Seems to be stuffed again. I just paid some rates. Did a $10 charge first to test it, got 2ppd. Then did the remaining $1350 a few days later and 0.5ppd.

This was definitely Plat Edge via Payp in both cases?

I paid some bills last week on explorer and just checked, all came in as 0.5 PPD :-/
 
Yep I paid 2 same night, same council 1 after another. Got 2ppd and 0.5ppd for the other.. on the same explorer

Amex seem to be ignoring complaints at the moment. I lodged one with the FOS about 6 weeks ago and Amex haven’t even bothered to get onto me. I guess the whole thing is a grey area.

Annoying that I did the test! Would have been better off just paying the full amount.

id say youve got zero leg to stand on, since it does say 0.5 for governement spend, unless you can argue that paypal is the intermediatery and should be getting paypal rates,

but im sure thats another huge can of worms
