BP velocity terminal not working..... help?

Hey all,
So there's a great promotion on at BP currently where I think it's 4 points per dollar or litre or something like that.
Anyway, filled up with $200 worth of the finest and when I went to pay the velocity terminal was down and I wasn't able to swipe.
I've kept the receipt.... any idea how I claim those points?

I see this is your first post, and welcome to the forum.

Did you happen to ask the counter attendant?

I think technically it counts as "forgot" to swipe, so not eligible, although an appropriately worded email explaining the IT fail may do the trick.

I have now tried 3 BP stations to keep my VA account active.Swiping my velocity card is yet to work.Always told by the servo guys-bad luck.
I am going to ask for a new velocity card.

Pick up a temporary card and swipe that.

I have had the situation you mention occur. The BP terminal was down when I bought petrol so other than waiting two hours I paid cash.
Coincidentally it was during a bonus points offer.

I emailed Velocity or BP, can't quite remember which.

They replied along the following lines:

In terms of the Terms and Conditions no retrospective claims will be accepted for Velocity Points at any time even where due to technology malfunctions where the card cannot be swiped during eligible purchases.

I do think this is very unsatisfactory but on follow up they said their position was final.

By all means write and claim but be ready for their unhelpful response.
