My wife did the shopping today at Woolies and loaded up with bags (about 10 really). Ended up using 5 of the bags so was credited 10 points - so it is based on used bags rather than brought bags.

I suggested that once the shop was complete take items out of the used bags and place them in any of the unused bags until all bags contain at least an item to gain some extra points. I was given "the look" - I didn't push the point.

In Coles, the check out staff member said something along the lines of "That's all Flybuys - nothing to do with me". There was nothing on my receipt that indicates bonus points but I'll check my account online tomorrow to see if any extra points appear.

The 30 Flybuys points appeared in my account today. It was a separate entry titled "Bring Your Bag Offer 13 Jul-17 Jul". All I did at the store was scan my Flybuys card.

I guess there are more people in the recent states and so more complaints ... And greater revenue loss for the majors to deal with.

Some people are driven by free points, and some by free plastic bags

If nothing else, this whole plastic bag episode shows how difficult behavioural change can be....It is interesting that some states in the past seem to have done it without problem, but doing it in WA and Vic seems to have sent the world into a meltdown....

It’s remarkable that Aldi since opening its first Australian stores in January 2001, Aldi has charged a fee for reusable plastic bags.
Initially an Aldi plastic bag cost 10c but was increased to 15c and no one blinked an eyelid.
Aldi has over grown from 0 % in 2001 to a market share now exceeding 12% - the fee Aldi charges for plastic bags certainly is turning customers away.

We’ve had that since 1977. Don Dunstan was Premier. I didn’t mind him and at the time SA had a lot going for it.

We have so many reusable plastic bags I don't know what to do with them.
Might have to throw them away.
And the so called green plastic bags made from polypropylene are far worse than the old free bags.

As I want a plastic bag to wrap my rubbish anyway I'm just buying them and now my garbage is sponsored by woollies as it goes to the landfill with their logo on the side.

Perhaps we should return to the heavy paper ones I remember as kid. (And still in use in other places around the world)

So can someone clarify how the extra points are given or how this is activated?
Interestingly, my husband and I got a trolley bag a while ago so we really didn’t notice the change as we have been doing it, but won’t mind the extra points. We shop both woolies and coles

I did the same. Used a few of the Coles bags whilst at the self check out and 30 FB points landed in my A/c.
