Was dreading the RNO > DFW > BOS flight on AA today as it left at 12:53am and never like those 3 and a bit hour flights after midnight, the rest of the day is usually a write-off.
Flying J and in 3A, (which is where we seemed to get dumped) noticed the PAX next to me was in wrap-around dark glasses and hunting cap, but quiet. Plane was delayed an hour, but got to sleep on take-off. Suddenly woke when he was squeezing my leg! I put it down to an accident, but fell asleep and about 15 minutes later he was doing the same thing. i told him to stop it, but then realised he was most likely drunk via the smell. Dropped off again and then awoken when we had my hold of my ear and would not let go!!!! It almost came to blows trying to push him away. Called the staff, but he just sat there, would not speak and pretended to be asleep. They just gave up.
But then with me awake as I was excepting a flying punch or something, he reached back between the seat gap and grabbed the leg of 4A telling him he looked like his wife! 4A started to become abusive and the staff came telling HIM to be quite. We explained the problem but at that point we hit top of decent and the pilots address. Rest of the flight he just sat there with his glasses on and not a movement.
As we were an hour late and I had to get across from C30 to A18 and I just wanted to get off that plane! Happened to miss the connecting flight so was able to talk to the staff in the Admirals Club. Upshot is they cannot do much, even if i fill out a report.
After over 2,000 flights I've never had anything like this before or anything near it; has anybody else had a similar experience? A nightmare Sunday in the States, but I'm glad it wasn't a woman sitting next to him.
