Hi all,

Since i got really helpful responses to another query, i knew you were the best ones to ask this one to!

I'm travelling to Jakarta from Perth next month and i see its a 737-800. Does anyone know what the service is like in Biz class on this plane or (even better) this flight? Is it any different from domestic biz class or not? It's not a long flight so not too much of an issue, just would be good to know and any seat tips would be good too.

Also, while i'm on the subject, does anyone know what the international Qantas club in Perth is like? I've never used that and I can't find any comments on it on the forum. I presume there's no first class lounge equivalent to Melbourne or Sydney there?:(

Thanks.

The 738 J service international I have found not a lot different than J domestic. Although I can't comment on the PER / JKT leg - I personally won't fly direct OZ to Indonesia, I always go via SIN - it gives you more escape routes if things turn sour in Indonesia - I have however done a number of NZ flights (WEL and CHC) in J and found the flight plesant enough.

Happy Jakartering

Hi qf unfort,

Perth Int QP is one of the worst in the country, small with rude staff. The only saving grace is the pour your own bar.

Per-Jak is basically dom service and seating.

I frequently fly 734's/738's across the Tasman and the service/catering is pretty much like domestic on those flight.

Some differences between these and domestic services (aside from Duty Free being available).

  • In J, they can sip a champagne before departure and
  • Oz sparkling is available down the back.
  • There is no Charge for Alcoholic drinks
  • In J they give you a DVD player and a folder of DVD's to watch.

slightly OT, but can anyone comment on SYD - JKT ? I see it is a 767, and I am currently looking at booking a DCIR26 ex-JKT, as it's under $6k.

One further question. According to the oneworld schedule tool, there are direct flights from REp - CGK. However, when I just checked ExpertFlyer, it shows no direct QF flights for Jan 2009 - only JQ codeshare flights.

Is this a route being withdrawn by QF ?

767 will be either dreamtime or millenium seats, i would assume maybe the dreamtime ones normally being an international route.
If in whY there is only the central screen showing entertainment i think.
This is all memory since i have managed to avoid a 767 international flight for a long time :)
Depending on cost maybe you could also go SYD-SIN-CGK, (but SIN seats are difficult to find cheap depending on time)
SIN-CGK has a heap of options with LH being the cheapest, also SQ and 3K.

Have to agree with you based on what I have experienced the couple of times I have been in the PER International QF lounge.

Also not easy to have much time in the lounge as immigration does not open until 2 hours before the flight and the lounge does not open until 90 minutes before the flight departs. They may open the lounge a little earlier if there are enough people who got through immigration quickly waiting outside the lounge.

If you mean perth-jakarta, yes, jetstar are replacing qantas (and perth-denpasar as well)
