Yes I would like to know why almost universally, the door to a public toilet opens inwards so you have to grab a handle to open it to get out. Or why there has to be a door at all in most places. And while I'm at it, why there are no paper towels for hand drying in Australian airports (last week I took 8 flights in a week and there was not a hand towel to be had in any of the airports), as they can be used to grasp the handle afterward. It's gross to grab a handle that someone before you has left it wet! (something I'm also guilty of because I do not like Dyson hand dryers - they have been shown to be even more gross and germy than the other types. And who has the time to use the old-fashioned type).
the qantas lounge have nice paper towels

Am sitting in the outdoor area of the Holiday Inn at Santiago airport. Fly out tomorrow morning (it is 10pm here now). I have picked up a cold/flu and am miserable. Having a bottle of merlot to see if that helps. The anti-flu pills (pseudoephedrine etc) seem to have no effect. The speakers are playing a collection of 1980's music - very depressing.

Just sharing my misery :)

Sorry you're feeling unwell and good luck to you and your co pax.

Haha yes, but I only had enough lounge passes for one visit for me and hubby. He's platinum with Virgin so we normally fly VA, but last week it was all funded by my credit card collected QF points. I don't fly QF enough any more to justify the exorbitant cost of QF Lounge membership. My complaint was about the general public toilets.

Less paper less rubbish to remove for cleaners I suppose

Well yeah that's the reason, but it's super inconvenient for the actual users of the toilets and also leads to people using the toilet paper for the purpose instead, which is even more messy because that stuff disintegrates quickly. Just take the stupid doors off and solve the problem.

nothing worse than travelling when ill. Lots of water might be a good idea. Hope you feel better soon.

I have this understanding being recently under the weather avoided traveling to the USA. Avoiding the speakers and the merlot

I didn't think it was possible, but apparently it is! Glorious weather over in the UK at the moment, perfect - as my folks are over. I had a bit of a t-shirt tan from my last few weeks in South Africa, but now that I'm back here and the sun/warmth has decided to come out.... I did as any Aussie would do and had a good old BBQ in my backyard in my singlet, shorts and thongs (not flip flops as Mrs Flashback keeps telling me!!!!). I have now completed the t-shirt tan and have a full arm tan :D

"Regarding websites, we object to Beijing dictating how U.S. firms, including airlines, organise their websites for ease of consumer use. Chinese companies' websites operate freely and without political interference in the United States," a State Department official told Business Insider.

I am glad Trump is standing up to the One China policy which basically says it will invade Taiwan if necessary. I believe them the Spratly's islands already have missiles on them and are bullying shipping lanes in the South China Sea.
Has Qantas succumb the to the pressure from China?

China wants to dictate how foreign companies refer to Taiwan -- this is how every major airline is responding

I get migraines generally once or twice a month - and actually have the early warning signs of one right now.

I have had them for over 20 years and yes, I am fortunate mine are not debilitating ones which have me bedridden. However I have simply learnt to push through with them - have a period where I need to stop and let the aura phase pass and take drugs (and a can of Coke!) but then I just get on with things - even with nausea and a pounding head. Over the years I have found this actually helps lessen the impact vs going to bed.

It actually peeves me off when people say oh if it was a migraine, you wouldn’t etc - simply because their migraine experience is different. The migraine scale is a large one and people fall in different places on that scale. Just don’t try and tell me that mine are not migraines!

My Dr has told me I've been getting very low versions of migraines, I have periods where I can't see properly... it's like having stared at the sun. Don't get headaches or anything though, so it's not too bad. Only tends to last for 20 minutes or so.

Lady at work would have terrible migraines, be in bed for days. She would sometimes say she needed a coke to try to avoid one - not all the time but it seemed to help her but it had to be the full strength coke.

Best thing was for her to go home and try to rest the migraine before it consumed her. Terrible

I wonder if other caffeine drinks would do it, like Fanta?

Have you seen the musical Hamilton? We are meeting Master FM in New York for his birthday May 2019 and he wants to see it. Been checking out tickets and it seems like striking gold to get them. Tickets are currently only available to early Jan next year, so have registered for email alerts. For December the only tickets Ticketmaster has are reseller tickets at US$1200 each for not particularly good seats!

I had a "Hamilton afternoon tea" at the Lanesborough in London recently, not sure how it all tied in but it was nice.

We stay at the Marriott Marquis in New York City as it is so close to the theatres. Sure there are more exclusive hotels but this works ok for us.
Last time we saw Bette Midler in Hello Dolly, Dear Evan Hansen,Waitress and Groundhog Day.
We saw Hamilton previously and Billy Joel too.
This year we will see some new shows and will be guided by the Tony Awards.

Very first musical I saw was Hello Dolly as His Majesty's Theatre on Hay St.

Sometimes best to just keep quiet.

About wearing pyjamas on a plane? :D

Both prefer remedial massage, more pressure/firmer massages. Swedish massage (soft hands/soft pressure) is just creepy for me.

Hubby falls asleep during his. In Cambodia, our villa inc massages so one day he had 2 young ladies massaging him while I was in the living room working.

I could tell he fell asleep but they couldnt. They were softly saying "Sir. Sir. Sir!" and i could hear their anxiety increasing - because they thought he was dead, not sleeping.

I was laughing as he woke up, I imagine the girls were worried about the "Middle aged westerner dies during double massage" headlines.

Please give directions to this place :)

And Coles are no longer selling my favourite Rice Crackers - Fantastic. Yet they sold really well. Of course Sakata must now be paying better for shelf space. Final straw. I’m going to Foodland from now on. They sell all the brands I like.

Sakata! Every time I see rice crackers, that jingle always pops into my head. I bought some from Lidl yesterday and they (not Sakata!) were quite nice!

Tasmania 3mth into medical cannabis trials and showing positive results. Reduced epileptic seizures, inc cluster seizures, involuntary twitching/shaking ect.and gained weight.

'He really was a happier chappy': Medicinal cannabis patients show improvement

Reduced gained weight or gained weight? :D

In my little semirural area there was an IGA for years - very small one size of a chemists in floor area. Then came in Franklins (subsequently closed) and Aldis but the little IGA is still going strong

Where I used to live in Perth, the IGA has just been ousted. Going to be replaced by a 7-11 and Burger King. Oops, I mean Hungry Jacks.

One of the only things I dislike with Qatar business class, in the toilets it's tissues to dry your hands...... yeah, that doesn't work so well.

I have a QP lifetime membership, not sure I'll ever make much use of that now given I've been living in London for the last 8 years and there's not many BA Terraces lounges left, although I was at TXL recently which has one (but I'm OWE anyway).

“Fake news” Flashback? English news ......
I feel confident that our confectionary suppliers are doing us a favour when they reduce the contents to avoid prices rising.
You used to need two hands to hold the burger but now you would only now need two fingers as it has been “right sized” to be healthier.

That’s why I don’t play Golf. That scenario would do my head in
On the contrary. The first nine tells me I have the ability. The second nine was some bad luck and pressure.

Same course a few years earlier and I was 6 over after 5 holes, soaked after 45 minutes torrential rain and ready to give up and shot 1 under for the last 13 holes because I was relaxed and swinging easy.

Golf is very simple and more importantly if I'm playing golf golf I'm not working.
