It’s also a mountain in Alaska!

“Denali is the tallest land-based mountain on Earth—with a vertical rise of about 18,000 feet, as well as the highest mountain peak in North America—with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet above sea level. Wikipedia

But more apt I suggest is this quote

“Barack Obama to give Mount McKinley back its Native American name. Highest peak in North America to be renamed Denali, an Athabascan word meaning 'the high one'.”

Actually it was Sally Jewel his Secretary of the Interior who officially sanctioned the name change as she had the power to do so.
Jimmy Cater was responsible for the National park to be renamed Denali in 1980.
The Russians called it Tenada-after another Athabascan clan's name that lived nearby.-the Tenana groups.

It’s complicated.:)

My first OS trip was to Alaska/Denali national Park via the Yukon road trip 20+yrs ago. Hope to take hubby there one day.

We were wondering if that’s where your handle came from.

Mr ALH and I travelled around Alaska in a small RV 30 years ago. Especially loved Denali National Park

It’s a toss up for me whether to trip around Denali or the Rockies. Can’t do both. Currently Rockies is winning.

Depending on your point of view, these games are a flop

Tickets are still on sale
Beattie says 1M tickets sold but a lot of people would have bought multiple tickets.

Restaurants and businesses say patronage down. Traffic down.

I think the opening ceremony was mis targeted. Nothing about the city, region, state.

And now Beattie is spinning a tale saying they scared off the crowds because they predicted large crowds!!.o_O

And this late in the games (closing is Sunday 6days away$ he is announcing that he now wants people to go visit. o_O

I’m currently rocking with Airtasker! Seriously good help there.
Must give it a go. The wedding I was at on the weekend - the couple advertised for a choreographer for their wedding dance and it was superb

I hate going to wedding receptions because of just that - a choreographed wedding dance
It was fantastic. It wasn’t classical but a clip from about 10 of their favourite songs. I don’t dance but did enjoy watching it - and they were very good and love dancing
