Thanks for pointing that out liamsal - I thought I'd missed out, but no! Just booked for a quick holiday away for my birthday. First time in business class for an international flight, I'm excited!

I searched a few random dates throughout 2018 and prices were roughly $3600AUD return. Doesn't look like it unfortunately but I honestly didn't spend too long searching so might be worth having a decent look!

Too good of an offer to pass up. We have done HKG plenty of times and even though we love it we will probably use it as a stepping stone to elsewhere. HX are doing flights for $2500 HKG-LAX or SFO so I might try out what their A350’s service is like.

The irony is that some of the options route OOL-MEL-HKG-MEL-OOL.

I don't suppose the fare rules allow a MEL stopover do they?

Well going to have to scrap that idea. HX earns no SC’s or points to North America. Not to matter as there are plenty of decent prices to elsewhere in Asia or beyond
