I wonder if the fact it was empty factors in to their cost base for the upgrades.Mel-Lst $80 accepted x 2 at T-80. Min bid for this sector was $70. Seemed like an okay deal to get access to VA lounge. However the reverse earlier Thursday Lst-Mel min bid was $140. Too rich for such a short flight with no lounge. The J cabin was flown empty on this sector.

The Platinum Edge card has a $200 travel credit which can be used with multiple airlines. Virgin is one of them.Dumb question but what's the AmEx discount on Virgin? Is that something different from the $300 AmEx travel bonus?
