Comfy dress vs Acceptable dress

I had a daytime flight to Singapore on QF last year ... oddly, they played the “it’s now night time, everyone go to sleep!” game.
Even though it was about midday!
Qantas turned the cabin lights off around 3 hours into flight after 5:00pm departure yesterday.

I recommend stretch jeans. For me, there a good way of being both comfortable and acceptably dressed. Also, it saves having to take a change of clothes for the flight

I could not think of anything less comfortable than jeans for 12 plus hours in a plane seat! Elastic waist and cotton are your friends!

I always go shorts and collarless shirt on J. If you are wearing uncomfortable cloth then it defeats the whole purpose of J, i.e. to arrive comfortably so you can go to work straight away.

I have never been denied entry into Syd or Mel F on shorts and shirt. Once on the plane as long as you pass the decency test then i dont think there should be any limitation on what you wear.

I guess in business or higher, for the $1 it costs them to manufacture PJs, airlines could give passengers the choice of whether they want them or not (day or night flight). Not everyone would feel comfortable wearing shorts, nor are always suitable for the climate on arrival, or allow pax to hit the ground running (for example going straight to dinner).

Perhaps a little OT, but the newish QR lounge at BKK doesn't allow shorts or thongs, among other things.
I understand they'll lend you some PJs to cover the offending bits.

The fact that in the Qantas world those baggy shapeless pyjama legs are more acceptable than a set of shorts says that something is wrong.

I thought Qantas had had a bit of a Thing about lounges & people wearing shorts, thongs, hi-vis etc from about 2 years ago?

Actually that was QR (Qatar), not Qantas (QF).
QF doesn't allow 'sleepwear' in the dom lounges BTW..

I think the preceding post said QR not QF...

And the QF (domestic & only selected cities at that) dress guidelines ban sleepwear.

Edit: and beaten to it

Asking for a friend, does Cathay Pacific J issue PJs?

thanks

I always wear jeans on long haul flights. I am not a Tracky Dack person and have not owned a pair for 35 years. So for me jeans (I keep wallet and passport in pocket for security) and a Tshirt with a hoodie over the top as I like the whole layers thing. Slip on shoes that I can put on/off hands free for the toilet visits and I do like a cap I can put the brim down over my eyes if the mask is annoying me.

Most of my travel however is domestic and business related so the whole suit, shirt and tie rubbish so I can go straight from airport to rental car and client meeting except when I do a Perth from Melbourne run then I head to the VA lounge and change into the suit there and hit the road.

As an Aside
I find it funny when I check in at the desk wearing a suit I get the "good morning sir" and when I check in wearing jeans I get the "g-day mate". Neither offend me just that people see clothes as uniforms. I regularly pick up medication from a pharmac_ that is schedule listed and when I wear a suit all is good, I rock in on a weekend in shorts and a t-shirt I get asked for ID. Same pharmac_, same script, I am the same bloke, different uniform. Interesting

I have been known in the past to wear jeans and a shirt on CBR-MEL flight, getting changed on arrival into MEL, head to meetings for the day, then getting changed back into civies for the MEL-CBR flight home.

Personally I would wear something nice and still feel comfortable.

Trackie daks should be fine for the living room at home. I don't think I have ever seen anyone wear pyjamas in economy and I try to avoid airlines where people wear pyjamas in business.
And I try my very best to avoid airlines that don't gives pyjamas to those travelling in business.
Etihad and Singapore - you know who I am talking about! :p

Hubby has started wearing PJs during winter and really likes the QF ones as they are comfy and they dont shrink into hobbit sizes after a few washes.

Mrs NoName & I also wear our airline PJs during the winter months. Find them quite comfortable on a cold night.
