Thanks Dr Ralph. Provisional approval granted.
There may be delays as I am relying on notice of assessment rather than pay slips.
Does this card have a maximum credit limit (independent of financial circumstances)?
My favourite card ( Amex Explorer ) has an absolute limit regardless of personal circumstances.

I applied yesterday. got a text just now saying that it is approved and they will send the card to me in 5 days. Does council rate count toward the spending target for the 90K bonus points? TIA

I don't believe so, no. In an online chat with St George earlier this week when I was querying about Australia Post Billpay being eligible for the points, I was told no because Australia Post is a government entity.

Not sure about your council but I pay rates for Darebin (VIC) and also ACT, and I can pay by credit card direct with the council - i.e. avoid using Post Billpay - so there is nothing in the T's & C's about not including government spend to reach the $5000 for the bonus.

Wouldn't get too excited on that front. Cross the threshold 2 statements back. Still waiting.
But that must have been for a previous offering rather than this one as this one commenced around 3 weeks ago.

Hmmm rejected on online application immediately- no experience with St George.

I'm not sure if this was due to ID verification error with my driving licence (this has happened elsewhere before), or the fact that I'm recently in a new job and at a new address, or due to a large balance on my 3 other credit cards due to be direct debited in 4 days.

I'm tempted to manually pay the balances and try again before the deadline as it is a good deal.

However does anyone know if this online instant rejection and reapplication affects my credit score? If so I might just wait and do the Virgin High Flyer later in the year.

If St George are reporting on applications, then two applications will be reported if you apply twice.

+1s application submitted and approved subject to income verification etc etc....Email with verification sent.

Aplied 4th March and emailed income verification details same day. Arrived back to Oz today with no word so send SMS witn "status" for update and received the same message as above: "...they have received a high volume of applications and they are behind in processing" :(

+1 rang St George today...card has been posted to local branch and should be there within 2 days :)
In reality it took nearly 2 weeks for the card to arrive at +1s local St George branch, and she received no notification that it had arrived so it was lucky she popped in to ask ;). Now card is activated and ready to go....well to spend 5K!

...and I have just been provisionally approved as well this evening...easy 180K QF pts for $278 :) thanks DrR

Well spoke a bit too soon. I applied Friday night, and was provisionally approved subject to income verification which I sent straight way. Received an email and SMS next day (Saturday) asking me to contact them to verify some information...only could ring them on Monday morning when they reopen so spend the next couple of days wondering what they wanted to confirm :(...rang Monday am, and after waiting on hold for ages, all they wanted to know was whether I had any previous accounts with St George or Bank of Melbourne....really!! :( When I reconfirmed I hadn't, they put my application through whilst I was on the phone....after a looong wait, I was then told they had a database problem and to ring back the next day (Tuesday). Rang again on Tuesday (yesterday) and there was message saying they still had a database problem and to call back again today (Wednesday)!!. Rang today, and card approved straight away....asked whether I need to go to the local branch to collect, and was told it will be posted to my home:cool:...go figure!

Anyway, at the end of the day, 180K Qf pts for 2x$139  ....should be enough for a 1 way Syd-Lhr QF flight in F :) :)

The exclusion is:
Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

So it seems you would be eligible for the bonus points.

Thank you Dr Ralph, really easy application process and response from the dragon.

A nice way to make 90K in points

Is there a reason for the pessimism?

If you look over previous threads dealing with St George you'll see they have a history of maxing out the waiting time. Whilst this isn't against the terms of the offer, it can be frustrating as it means you have to hold the card for potentially 3 months or more (depending on when the points transfer after statement end) before you can churn it. Other banks, such as NAB, are well known for paying the bonus points almost immediately.

This will be my fourth St George card, they've never paid the points quickly.

So far the process has been nothing short of a delight.

Not for me and several others from what I've seen in this thread.

In my case there was an unreasonably long delay between approval and receipt of card.

Phew almost forgot to apply. Got in just under the line!

Seemed to be having trouble verifying my identify (despite having filled in licence no and passport). But will see how it goes. Immediate notifiacation was "approved pending verification", and have sent off 2 payslips.

Offer extended to April 18th :)
The bonus points and reduced annual card fee is available to customers who apply via this website (offer not available in branch or via call centres) and are approved for a new Amplify Signature credit card between 26 February 2018 and 18 April 2018.
