PER- new route? In my lifetime?

Well the rumours about Perth-Tokyo continue to buzz, although one doesn't know how much foundation there is in that. Qantas has of course tipped PER-CDG and PER-FRA but those wouldn't be likely until the next tranche of Boeing 787 deliveries, which in turn would be a few years away.

Seems to be more PER-centric spin than anything else but sure, PER-LAX, why not? Gotta be better than a transit via SYD and the T3-T1 shuffle! [Was chatting with somebody from CX recently and they said they get a lot of passengers from PER who would rather fly PER-HKG-USA (be that SFO, LAX, JKF, BOS or even YVR) than go via SYD, especially if they are heading beyond LAX.]

SriLankan ex-PER would open up significant status run opportunities. Bring it on!

Might be only 15months away.
QF could still activate slots for 2019 afaik

Subject to CASA, QF might ditch the 747 SYD-JNB for say a 787 SYD-JNB and maybe 332 PER-JNB (SA has used a 332 on this route recently)

Been talked about a bit on airliners.net about the translation, whether next Sept, could actually mean Sept 2019.

Only other way would be for QF to send #7/8 to Paris rather than the unannounced North American destination(s)

I noted recently that VN does SGN-MEL and HAN-SYD / HAN-MEL multiple times a week.

A direct SGN-PER service once a week wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

When did QF stop Perth to Tokyo out of interest? I flew PER-NRT in 1997 after my scheduled CX flight from Perth to Hong Kong was delayed by 2 days (yes 48 hours).
Haven't lived in Perth for a while, and realise that QF have bugger all international these days.
