1,000 Membership Rewards points = 600 Starpoints

For a limited time, Cardmembers enrolled in Membership Rewards Ascent can take advantage of a fantastic offer with Starwood Preferred Guest the frequent guest program with prestigious hotel brands including St. Regis®, The Luxury Collection®, Sheraton®, Westin®, Four Points® by Sheraton, Le Meridien®, Aloft® by W Hotels and Element® inspired by Westin.

Normally, redemptions made for Starwood Preferred Guest would be at a conversion rate of 1,000 Membership Rewards points for 330 Starpoints. Until 30 September 2008, this rate has changed to 1,000 Membership Rewards points for 600 Starpoints.
So why not take advantage of this great offer and the access that Starwood Preferred Guest can give you to exclusive benefits, fast online booking and some of the finest hotels and resorts in the world?

Seems like the convertion ratio of Amex MR -> SPG Points -> AAdvantage Miles is looking a lot better.:)

I kind of wonder if they're advertising the fact now and encouraging people to do it, whether it was a misprint. After all, if they are losing money on this (which the misprint and the subsequent retraction would suggest) , then they're unlikely to promote it for people to use more, would they?

I reckon there would be a market for American Express to run various "specials" like this on point conversions - after all, Amex could go to SPG or Hilton or something and say to them that they'll offer a time limited special if they can negotiate a special rate which will induce a large influx of cash as Amex customers convert during the time limited special (kind of like the Velocity 50% extra special that they had).
