When the 12 months was up a month ago, I contacted AMEX seeking an extension and the best offer to was a $50- Myer gift voucher. I subsequently closed the account and reopened a new account three weeks later using the link below. Now I have the AMEX Rewards account for another 12 months.
Here's the link http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/campaigns/rewardsmaximiser/morepoints/default.shtml
The only downside I can see is that you end up with another application for credit on your Baycorp reference. Not necessarily bad unless you do it a lot. Once a year should not affect too much I would think.ozstamps said:Hmmmm.
No downside to doing this that anyone can see?
Did you transfer all points first or ask them to merge them with new account?

I applied for the Rewards Maximiser via the Amex Website says first year free. Not surprising then that my first statement has the $12 monthly charge.
So far two calls to Mumbai haven't solved the problem - but the website is black and white and I've printed the page for my records.

My first statement received last week also has the $12 monthly charge on it. I've just hung up on Mumbai (after waiting 35 minutes for a consultant) to be told that they would credit my account $144 and that the $12 would appear each month...

Has anyone been able to obtain a discount on the Reward Maximiser annual charge?
Yes
Amex gladly waived the annual fee due this month for my Rewards Maximiser upon request.
Cheers
Nice work!
Would anyone have the Amex Rewards Maximizer & Gold Charge card combo that got a fee waiver for both? or Pay for the Amex Rewards Maximizer and get the Charge card for free?
