Hi, I'm pretty new here but thought it would be a good place to ask.

The last time I flew Qantas was 5-6 years ago. I tried business on a few trips and received terrible service. I haven't flown on them since. The majority of the flight attendants were overweight, over 40 and generally in a bad mood.

Has this improved in recent years and specifically in business class?

What has "The majority of the flight attendants were overweight and over 40" have to do with the quality of service provided by any airline (or any company for that matter)?

If the majority of the flight attendants were young and hot but still in a bad mood, would that be acceptable?

It is hard to provide any serious response to such a 'poorly worded' request.

Absolutely, the poster has already proven what kind of person they are. Maybe they need to have a look at themselves first before they start mouthing off about other people.

Agree that could've been worded better - I would tend to agree though that most QF Int. FAs I have encountered are usually advanced in their career/seniority with a poor attitude and approach to service.

Thank you for the reply.

I think I was not specific enough. I previously had issues with the older FAs on Qantas flights. Older FAs on other airlines have been excellent.

Qantas had the oldest flight attendants at the time and provided subpar service. It appeared they no longer enjoyed their job and took it out on passengers. This might have been due to the poor upper management at the time but who knows. It stood out to me on Qantas flights because the majority were older and it just happened that the service was also terrible.

I must have been flying on a different airline known as Qantas. But maybe my attitude upon boarding had a little to do with how I was treated :-)

As many here will be aware I have moved the majority of my international travel to BA and CX, but I do get to fly QF up to HKG and SIN and I have to say the service has been exceptional. I'd have to say QF FA's, in my experience, provide excellent service with an Australian sense of humour/humility.

So, what I see here is what I would refer to as a "Pretty Piss-poor" mentailty. I'd be embarrased personally.

If you know what's good for you I would suggest reconsidering how you think of people.

Digging a deep Hole in the ground just means it's harder to get out of before people fill it in.

Personally, on all airlines, I have found the older FA staff to generally be the best. Not that young staff can't be good too. But if one must try to generalise.

OP, why are you asking this? Is there a reason you're now motivated to fly QF? Maybe that question would be less offensive and more appropriate for this forum.

An opinion can definitely can be offensive and this definitely borders on it.

I agree entirely - I hate people hiding behind offensive statements by calling them opinions. But this particular one is likely based on observation, therefore the only possible mistake is a generalisation about other Qantas crew.

Either way, it's not on topic so let's keep moving.

I would beg to disagree with the OP. I have had excellent service from more mature FAs on QF and also some pretty average service - IMO there is not a direct correlation between age and level of service provided - and don't try to link it to the clothing size of the staff. That is just plain offensive!
FWIW the worst service in J I have encountered has probably been on EK - efficient but cold and no real interest in making your flight experience memorable. YMMV but there are good and bad on all airlines IMO.

My apologies if I offended anyone by my OP, as that was not my intention. I agree it was poorly worded. I think yohi's description of the QF FAs is what I was trying to convey.

@Austman. I have also received excellent service from more mature FAs on other airlines and vice versa but not on Qantas. For example, on CX the young FAs are cold and robotic and the older FAs are fantastic.

@bsb. I like to try different airlines and wanted to know if I should go back to Qantas for my next trip.

I disagree that it's offensive. It's an opinion that may well have been based on observation.
Agreed. See response below.

This is how I would describe VA FAs? Does that make my statement offensive too? They are my experiences and not necessarily the same as others have experienced.

This post, and your attitude, is supremely offensive.

Lets not kid ourselves and play the PC card too quickly.

We all like a bit of eye candy and fact is a lot of airlines hire based on fitness, height etc shows they are willing to oblige to a degree.

John, and others .... I do to some point agree with the op's opinion, and yours too.

But, Ageism and Physical figure Shaming is where the line was crossed in the thread, which the OP has Addressed.

And yes, opinion is opinion, of course...... But targeting certain Age and Weight of people is MEANINGLESS and Hurtful for no particularly good reason nor outcome..

A skinny 40 year old Lady or a buxom 20 year Lady can have a bad day. ... and vice versa

Or maybe the Pax was having a Bad Day regularily and perceiving it in such a Fashion.
Whether he be Slim or More? Younger or , well, lets say 'advanced in age'

Kind regards, Donovan
