re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I was actually going to come back and make a comment about the 77W... service levels have dramatically improved with the introduction of their new meal service in long haul business... no more meal trays, everything is set directly on the table. Silver bowls for your bread selection. And an extensive choice of mix and match courses. Pretty impressive (although the taste can be a bit bland). There's also new long-stemmed champagne flutes.

Personally i don't rate the TG A80 all *that* highly. It's ok, but I like the 747 better. of course F is F, but 77W (same seats as the A80 in business class) along with the new service levels and it's not that far off. You'll miss the PJs and Rimova amenity kit, but as you say the ground service once reaching BKK is the same.

As for lounges, TG F dun get access to the LH F lounges anyway... but there will be a 'downgrade' from the Senator Lounge to the regular business lounge. In FRA there isn't that much of a difference anymore now that they've upgraded the business lounges (they used to be the very poor cousin of the senator lounge).

If F does open up it will mean an extra connection, dunno how LM will handle that. Email? I'd probably just call them at first instance. And then hope if they can make the change that they don't lose the BKK-SYD seats in the process :(

Thanks again. I read a new TG J 772 trip report just yesterday andnoticed the new meal service had even made it onto the older planes. Looks significantlybetter.

They’re just about to board a TG J flight BKK-CDG tonight (Ibooked them J over, F back). I’m seeing them next week – I’ll try and get asense from them about how impressed they were with the improved J service.

I booked them a separate EDI-FRA rev flight the day before as LMs doesn’tallow F+Y mixed bookings. I can easily change this to EDI-CDG or EDI-LHR so wouldn’tadd in a LMs connection from FRA. If its LHR I’d probably just put them on atrain (I’ve done both train and plane on this route). If its CDG the whole *Apremium experience is pretty average, if its LHR it’s the beautiful new QueensTerminal with excellent lounges but then I’m slugged with the UK APD tax.

We’ll see what opens up but I might just leave them where theyare. I know they will be uneasy with last minute changes to their travellingplans.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

If it was angled beds in J it'd be screaming for a change. But full full flats and F on the last sector is still reasonably sweet. The difference in miles is a pain though :(

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Just received an email saying the 2x1 offer is back on till May 30
Time to top up!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Yeah, got my email too.. Need to top up extra points to cover the increased miles needed to travel to most destinations that I'll visit!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I have my email and once again for some reason I have an extra bonus than advertised elsewhere.
1000-50000 - 2.1 miles.
51000-100000 - 2.25 miles.
101000 + 2.35 miles.

Time to top up as I have booked a few F awards and will need more next year.

the blogs have been talking about how there are targeted offers of 135% bonus for some people - including those who have previously purchased and also those holding their co branded credit cards.

i'm waiting for another one of those blog promos to hopefully bring it to 145%

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I was only offered 2x1 + 25% so not the best offer they've had.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Got the same offer, although after doing to searches I have a sneaking suspicion that Lifemiles are blocking First redemptions from Aus to Asia, cant seem to get any TG first flights to come up, it just defaults to Business.

Some strangish results coming up... SYD-BKK wide open in F. But if you then go for something like SYD-HKG same date (showing available on UA F/J) the LM only returns economy out of SYD and business BKK-HKG.

Guess this might be a screenshot.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Between middle march to middle april 2018 I can get 2 F awards on either TG flight SYD-BKK.Took it through to pay page in march and F holds.

When I was researching my flights I found if i just left it as smart search then F came up on TG properly but if I tried to force search on TG only it went to business only even on the first tab. This was for days with both F and J availability..

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Personally I am out of the LM game at the moment. AUD to USD is getting worse, increased redemption rates to Asia and Europe and their website has been really bad, way more erratic than usual over the past 2 months. Too risky for me at the moment. I would need one of the Dec specials where it 2 for 1 plus 40% to consider jumping back in.

Me too - "unfortunately" I still have quite a stash which I can't seem to use - was looking for 2 tickets (SYD-YVR return) in Jan/Feb 2018 but when I tried to book AC it errored out and screenshots to LM were ignored then the seats disappeared. I am now looking at booking paid J tickets - so far best deal is Korean Air for $5000 pp - hoping for a better deal but I can live with this. Also, maybe availability will improve later in the year - but right now only *A award option is a combo of CA and AC via China - but of course LM no longer supports CA.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

the value is going for destinations like China... can be cheaper to get one of the second tier carriers. but for other parts of Asia, $2000 return (at new levels) is still ok. At least $1500 cheaper than say QF business to Japan or Hong Kong.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I submitted a screenshot yesterday for SYD-BKK-NRT via TG in F. A bit worried now reading that they ignore the screen request. How many days do they normally take between submission and contact?

Took 3 days for me a few weeks ago.

Agree that if travel to these places is non discretionary then its still cheaper than QF SQ etc. But for non discretionary travel eg week on the beach in Asia this is the travel I will no longer do.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I would greatly appreciate is someone here could assist as I'm quite new to LM (this is my 2nd booking). I received an email from [email protected] today advising the following:

"First of all, we apologize for the delay on our response. Concerning your request, we will escalate your case to a specialized department, for them to manually book your 2 tickets (based on availability). In order to proceed, please send the following requirements:

  • Scanned image of the passenger's passport.
  • Screenshot of our website showing lack of avaible seats when looking for the 2 routes.
Let us remind you that round trip flights must depart from the same city on which you arrived; therefore, your request will be submitted for 2 separates bookings."

I didn't recall them asking for a scanned copy of the passport recently - is this standard and safe?
How do you demonstrate lack of available seats when this booking is not possible online?
Also, the return flight was SYD-BKK-NRT, then KIX-BKK-SYD and they are saying it can't be booked as a return - is that correct?

Thanks in advance.
