We trot off to Singapoe tomorrow on QF35 and I thought I'd pre order some duty free goodies for the people we are staying with.
All went well unti this morning when I got an email
"I hope you are well. I have been advised that unfortunately your pre-order will be cancelled due to domestic aircraft reconfiguration. Due to the aircraft type being a lot smaller than normal we do not have space to fit our carts that hold your pre order.

I will organise a refund for you ASAP.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Many thanks

When I did the online check in, it was still an A330, but maybe its been changed from a 300 to a 200??!!
Anyone have any ideas?
And yes, I know it's not the end of the world!

Any reason why you are buying duty free inflight? Vouchers? Discounts? Duty free should be cheaper on arrival in SIN.

John. More of a converience thing to get some of the Australiana stuff in the QF catalogue.

It is interesting to note the frank admission by Qantas that the 332's are configiured primarily for domestic service.

QF said this in a very upfront manner when they first announced the A330 reconfigurations: A333s would be for international and A332 for domestic (with occasional international sectors).

What I find interesting is that - in addition to the galley space and J toilet issues - we now know another reason why the A332 reconfig aircraft are unsuitable for international routes - they don't have sufficient space to hold all the duty free carts!

Dont some 332 have domestic leather seats and others international cloth?

I could have sworn this was mentioned during the initial stages there'd be a different in material for some of the 332's, but I don't believe this ever eventuated though.

How odd that they can't just put your order onto the plane! They know what you want, you're happy to buy it. No cart required.
