Return? I thought I did well when I booked SYD-MEL-LST for $109 each way.

Yep. As CapitalJCool noted, it was $79 each way (total $158 return). This was a no brainer. Rather then a same plane return in LST, I scheduled a seven hour layover in LST which would allow me to do the James Boag brewery tour.

Bummer. BNE-SYD was still $79 on acquire last night but not today. Mixture of $111 and $155

A sale just finished last week for July-Sptember and I got BNE-SYD for $89 but may need some more flights.

Another sale on today and now same dates are $107.

Sure it's less than the listed $159 but not a very enticing sale that far out.

Hoping for a sale fare for Nov BNE - SYD. Currently $239 :/

Mr.K ... I have all my BNE-CNS (and rtn) booked in J until the end of March. I seem to miss out on picking up on sale fares, so could you PLEAAAAASE let me know if you see any J QF or VA sales (no way I'd pay full retail, but I've become somewhat used to J). I'm disappointed I didn't get to chat to you at Storytellers BNE evening a few weeks back, but I didn't know who you were and my gums were flapping as it was! I think we all need name badges!

I purchased a couple of $99 MEL/SYD fares.

I saw the I class specials but had no need.

I believe you can set up notifications with google flights to tell you when prices will go up or down.

I have the QF notifications set, but last time I bought a swag of J tix, the sale notifications only materialised with the final days of the sale.

Yeah unfortunately it is - Nov 7 cheapest flight is $199. Maybe because of cup day?
Gouging more and more.

On 03 Jan SYD-BNE early morning flight was ridiculously priced and I paid for my ticket and used points for wife and daughter. Flight probably ~80% full and only 4-5 in business class. I had shadow in 4D and wife had shadow in 5C without status.

Why oh why continue this gouging? Instead on the other side all VA flights are full.

It is not gouging ... it is ensuring maximum return for investors ... just wait until they start varying the available fares based on factors such as your personal purchase pattern, IP address etc ..

There's merit in not having a static IP address. ;)

But if they do resort to those tactics they'll lose sales. I know what airfares should be at any point in time. That's what I will book unless it's a late decision to travel.

P.S. I have started looking at Webjet to get comparison of airfares on the day I want to travel. That can't be good for Qantas from a loyal customer.

Qantas is making what... A billion a year? And how's VA doing?
Yep. Hedge oil where the price of oil has been low for ages but don't pass the savings on. What are Qantas going to do when oil goes back up? SYD-BNE/MEL at $200 each way?

In case you haven't noticed the loads are down.

Yeah you've answered your own question. Make hay while the sun shines. You don't know what's around the corner.
