Would have been useful earlier when 2014 Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz was $19.99, making it $12.41 delivered after $50 off :)

I thought everyone had it  then I saw mention of spend $149.

Anyway, there are 6 hours left to scour Cracka for another bargain if anyone is that way inclined

Steady thank goodness Mrscove does not drink alcohol......Actually last year I think there were 4 who didn't drink alcohol.

I'm not a Greys devotee (thinking now I probably should be) so didn't realise it could be had so cheaply, I actually think they are a quality producer but hadn't had one for a while...

The higher level Pirramimma range, like this:

https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ...mNmprjAJUdnI2TVVxab8_9a1Za4l6LxRLoaApf48P8HAQ

and including things like Petit Verdot, Tannat and Merlot goes for between $7 - $10 a bottle, even after you factor in Greys very high commission + postage charges.

I've not dipped my toe in the water (Greys) so I'm not terribly familiar with how it all works, I've had a few cursory looks at the site but remember being a bit aghast at their commission fees etc!

Yes, this all needs to be factored into the price you will pay with Greys.

The prices I have indicated in the last few posts include all of the fees.

Some people pay silly prices for some items on Greys. I can't work out if they weren't aware of the extra things to be factored in or if they just wanted that item.

And some people just don't understand how it all works.

I've bought a lot from Greys over the past 2 years - including a lot of high end Pirramimma.

My suggestion is to watch a few of the items that you want and work out how much you're willing to pay for them. The same item will usually come up every few days. It usually take me between 1 and 10 goes at it before I get the item I want for the price I'm prepared to pay.

Here's a couple of examples:

Merlot 2013 Auction (0018-2441282) | GraysOnline Australia

Other Red Varietals 2012 Auction (0036-2441282) | GraysOnline Australia

That's a great price on the Tannat. So how much was it in the end? Around $9 a bottle?

Yes, about that. This was a couple of months ago. But the same items come up every couple of days in different auctions. You just need to be patient to get the good prices.

Just had another look at Greys and think I'll have to study the finer details Dr Ralph, I'm not sure I've got the acumen to engage with this brave new world that has been presented to me! hey electrotek have you had a few "issues" with this particular scenario??

Great summary, Dr Ralph.

I've purchased mostly the high end stuff from Greys too, including a magnum of 98 John Riddoch. I've also picked up the Pirramimma ACJ 10 that I found a fairly nice (if not a little young because of the prominent oak).

As Dr Ralph recommended, you've got to study the auction results to gauge the right price and you'll get a win if you keep persisting as they seem to have large volumes of a lot of stock given many of the deals repeat. You also need your calculator handy to work out what you are really paying on the auction lots (not an issue for the buy now items). The quality of the wine has been good, except for a really cheap wine that was corked (they gave a full refund without any quibble).

I'd suggest steering clear of the really cheap stuff, and hunt out some high end gems like the John Riddoch.

At the moment V50 I've got the GB Filsell on its way and a case of Maverick GSM + 6 pack GB Merlot en route and still Cellarmasters is tempting me, waddya reckon with another case of GSM even though I've not tasted it yet??
