Jut curious.
I still dont even get how that was achieved or how thats applicablr for begining in aus

But is the sample itinerary and price a once in a lifetime price or find?
Seems to me that building a RTW Y- fare for <$2K isn't going to be too difficult. Looking at LCC legs, off-season fares and so on.

There's a variety of different airlines in that itinerary, and I cannot recommend travelling during January, particularly if touching on Sweden and North America. Flights could be delayed or cancelled due to weather. Comfort levels aren't going to be high.

I'm also thinking that in this LCC category there are often hidden fees for various services, such as credit card surcharges, booking fees, seat selection and, well, luggage.

A wonderful adventure for uni students with a backpack and a well-built friend.

I was getting an update from SQ recently and they highlighted a pseudo RTW option of theirs that is $A1200 plus taxes in Economy. You can do Sydney - Singapore - London, own arrangements to Frankfurt - New York - Singapore - Hong Hong (or other Asia) - Singapore - Sydney. There would only be rare situations when someone would actually want to do that, but I thought it was an interesting fare for them to be offering!

It's available from Australia - or indeed any point in the sample itinerary - because it's not a published fare.

It is a combination of individual sectors which have been cobbled together - all one ways and all priced from the point of departure for each leg.

As they're priced from the point of departure for each leg anyone can buy them, in any country. You'll end up with 5 separate tickets (or however many it adds up to).

This differs from most published fares which are based on the point of departure, with all subsequent flights based on the original, and on a single ticket.

The fuel surcharges on that SQ itinerary could end up being more than the airfare but still a good deal.
