Pretty poor effort by QF. Plenty of public announcements about all A330 fleet to be refurbished... no public announcements to say we've decided to keep 2 x A330 with skybed 1. Show your customers respect.

 IIRC all the hype was that they would be completed by the end of this year (I stand to be corrected). Time to chill out, sit back and wait. They've still got over 3 months before times up. Then we can start bagging them. :-|

Exactly. QF never committed to an exact schedule, and timings have always been based on estimates and the occasional snippet of info.

While the J isn't too bad on -EBG and -EBL (at least compared to the workbench on other 332), pax in Y still have the joy of spending their entire flight with a gameboy-size IFE. The last time i flew with -EBL, my IFE was only showing black, white and red colors...

yet people are glued to their even smaller sized screens (phones), watching cough/doing cough for hours on end every day of their lives...and as soon as they get on an aircraft they whinge the screen isn't big enough:D

Hopefuly not the case when we travel next year...EF shows these planes on our route currently

Difference would be that the screen on the plane is a low-resoultion with bad content and the screen on a phone/tablet is high-resolution with whatever content you can download before the flight (or stream in the air). Does make a difference.

Well, considering the IFE size is 6.4 inches on -EBL and -EBG and that the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is only 0.7 inch smaller but with a 2 to 3 time higher resolution then yeah, complaints make sense :D

I heard on the radio Jetstar are making any note 7 users switch their device off during flight, probably qantas is doing the same. (that's if any user still have the phones)
The QF pre-boarding announcement at HBA today instructed passengers with the phone to power it off prior to boarding and to not charge it during the flight.

And VH-EBL is out of BNE operating QF589 BNE-PER after only 11 days in the shed.
This is not enough time for a full refurb, and EF still shows the 2x2x2 SkyBedI config. Query if QStreaming/new seat covers have been installed or if was just general maintenance

Looks like VH-EBG may have replaced it in the shed.

My best guess (and I stress the word "guess") is that they want all the planes available for the upcoming school holidays. NSW school holidays start in a few days.

A bit browsing on the Qantas official Instagram account today led me to a photo posted by a user '@racheldudok' who appears to be an aircraft maintenance engineer for Qantas up in Brisbane.

The comments from her on the photo of the Business cabin of EBG with regard to whether it is in refit "Nope. Staying the same" to another user: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKUDIbshpbF/?taken-by=racheldudok

Further down her page a picture of EBL with a question from a user similarly asking about whether the aircraft is in refurb to which she replies "all the reconfigs are done [emphasis added]. This one is a leased A332 so she is just getting a tart-up": https://www.instagram.com/p/BKC44ZvhhF5/?taken-by=racheldudok

This leads me to believe that the re-configuration program is pretty much done and dusted. Based upon the evidence that has been piling up in this thread over the past week or so, combined with these comments from somebody working at the maintenance centre in Brisbane lead me to strongly believe EBL and EBG are not being re-fitted with the suites.
