AA are launching a new marketing campaign that doesn't focus on the cliche features and benefits. Can read about it at the NY Time here. I'd be happy to pay a bit more to fly with 'great fliers'.

Good grief they are kidding themselves......

"American Airlines wants you to know it would really, really appreciate it if you could ask before raising the window shade, and if you could not hog the armrest. Also, be nice to the flight attendants when they greet you."

You know every flight I fly on American I see a flight attendant who really lets them down.

I always ask for my jacket to be hung. Yesterday on AA72 I asked for my jacket to be hung. I was told they didn't hang coats in Main Cabin Extra and that I could hang it in the overhead bin. I looked astonished and the chap got the message. His compromise - we won't bring it back to you you'll have to get it yourself when we land.....

Now on the flip side when I got on the AA172 and asked the purser said ask the FA in Business to hang it and when I hit the cabin the FA said to me without asking that he would hang my coat when boarding finished. Good work. First time in 23 sectors over the last 2 months on AA. Whereas on QF they ask me overtime if I want my coat hung.....

So my recent AA experiences is that the FA do nothing special for anyone ever. Including their peers. Yesterday one of the FAs dropped the tray of ice creams on the floor and the chap who suggested locker space just stood and watched her pick them up! Worse still they went back in the cart tray with the good ones! But three rows back and you'd never know!! I even remarked to her what a great team mate she had working and she just shrugged.

I know everyone has their own AA FA war story, but I've encountered the same proportion of less than stellar FA's on AA as I have on QF and VA.

I've never expected my coat/jacket to be hung when flying outside of J or F. It sounds like the FA gave a good compromise!

Bingo. My wife who's an AA EXP (for years) gets treated pretty terribly. The latest was our July flight where, even in J, she couldn't get an extra pillow, even at 6 months pregnant and the plane not full (J was, but Y wasn't.) She asked the flight attendant who said she'd check and got zero follow up on that. Since she's been pregnant, she's flown EK, CX, JL, AA, QF, MH J and by *far* AA service was the worst for her. Every single other airline checked on her multiple times and helped make her comfortable.

AA FAs are really excellent at knowing the absolutely minimum amount of work they need to do and doing exactly that and nothing more.
