Parents go to Bali leaving 4,6 year old home alone

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Who in their right state of mind would leave a 6 and a 4 year old alone even for an hour, let alone go abroad for days. Apparently today the stepmother was blaming Australia Post. Its their fault as they didn't deliver the children's passports as planned.

Any other normal mother I know of would just change flights and stay at home, but that didn't seem to enter her mind....

Interesting that the headlines are all about the stepmother and not the father. I mean, it's unfathomable for anyone to do that by wouldn't the father be expected to show more care?

I assumed the father was already out of the country with the step mum at home in charge of the kids?

This is why child welfare should be removing children from negligent parents more often.

As serfty suggests there is more to the story....Passports apparently were mailed to China last year??. Presumably they did not get it. Something dodgy when passports have to be mailed overseas when passport applicants are here???

I strongly believe passports should never be mailed. There should be a letter sent to the recorded mailing address to say passports are ready to be picked up at the post office. They should never be mailed overseas or to any address. If a passport is lost overseas, then a short term emergency document should be issued at the overseas embassy allowing for one entry back into Australia.

Apparently the father was already overseas when the stepmother tavelled. And she returned to PER herself.

4 and 6 seems a bit young for a home alone episode. Lucky the authorities are now involved so it will be interesting to get the full story. Episode one is not really complete and it seemed that an interpreter was required to interview the stepmother. If that is accurate how could she contact someone to help in the event of a youngster health emergency is what we were wondering?

THIS IS CHILD ABUSE IN THIS COUNTRY AND THOSE WHO LIVE/VISIT THIS COUNTRY ARE BOUND BY THE LAWS OF THIS COUNTRY.

Having said that, it is the same broken record when some ADULTS/PARENTS/GUARDIANS ETC blame everyone/everything else for the 'situations' they 'find' themselves in and the INNOCENT children get dragged into the MESS ADULTS CREATE:mad:. No doubt we will hear the 'reasons'/excuses from the father in due course:rolleyes:

Certainly, there's more to the story. But a 4 and 6 year old left home alone for overnight? What the?????
