Hi

I currently have a friend who is overseas and is having trouble with their Qantas booking due to the flight disruptions in Sydney the other morning due to weather.

He travelled out of Australia Friday 27th May when Sydney was experiencing strong winds, and his flight from MEL/SYD was cancelled. He was rebooked onto another service which then connected with his international flight ex SYD.

Somehow the booking wasn't changed correctly and according to reservations the booking is now "corrupted" . He has tried to change his seat and pre order his meal for his return J class flight but is unable to do so. Even after ringing reservations from Asia they said there was nothing they could do and they made no suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Now there is concern as to what is going to happen to the booking when he goes to check in at BKK airport next week.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or maybe Red Roo could take a look.

Cheers

That's bizarre. What flight was he rebooked onto from MEL to SYD? Was it on another airline?

Either way, this is surely a Qantas problem and it should be up to them to fix it. Have you tried the HUACA method (hang up and call again)? I don't think it is acceptable for the call centre to have simply fobbed off the customer here.

No he was not booked onto another airline. He travelled on a later MEL/SYD QF flight, which was also delayed, but still made his connection in Sydney.

As he is calling from Asia, I don't believe he tried ringing again. The local number for QF in the Philippines didn't work, so he called Australia.

Either was it seems odd they are unable to fix the booking and restore online "My Bookings" functionality.

I even offered to ring reservations on his behalf. But I know QF won't talk to me about someone else's booking which I totally understand.

Not sure that is correct.......I had trouble in CUN a few years ago on a OW RTW award where my MIA - MAD booking was mysteriously cancelled. Couldn't get through to QF myself and there were language probs with the local contact so I emailed my sister in MEL and she sorted it out through QF for me. Maybe if you ring and say you are your friend's brother?????
