Sorry about a side question about lounge access . Will 2 x Qantas Club invitation i recently received with ANZ Black FF cards allow me entry to QF J lounge in Sydney if i fly Y SYD - HKG via Qantas or Cathay ?

Yes if you are on a QF flight

No need to go outside for QF F lounge, it has uninterrupted views of the northeast part of the airfield (freight terminal, 16R, T3/T2). Don't know what the platform is to which you refer, unless I've totally missed it in all my visits as far as I know there's no ability to go outside while in the Flounge.

In response to the OP's query, I agree with suggestions for the EK lounge - as noted, the F&B is great and with only an hour you shouldn't become too fatigued from the glitz :p

I think AP is referring to the exterior appearance of the F Lounge as its built overhanging the downstairs and looks like an enclosed glass viewing platform from the tarmac.

At least I think that's what Pooch means, if not I've totally missed this outside viewing area too

Having taken a look at the finances, change of plan, definite go for the Oct long weekend instead of Jul school hols, (more $$$ put aside for that F fare by then) EK operated QF metal SYD - CHC. Will miss most of the snow of course.
That flight leaves at 9.15 am or there abouts.
If anyone does do the F visit in the meantime, do have a walkaround.
Its apart from the curved wraparound, sorts of protrude out a little bit from the wraparound windows.

Suum cuiquie - but AP - I really don't think F flights to NZ are great value if wanting to experience the full F lounge experience. Better to save for an afternoon (SYD) or night (MEL) QF F departure if you can.

OK, I'll bite: a good way to do that for less than several thousand dollars would be...?

So you just decided to have a go at someone who found a way to do it at a price they can afford?

And it's "suum cuique".

No intent to have a go at all. There are plenty of threads on this site about making the most of a F lounge visit (and plenty of offers to guest people in). In my view timing is a factor. But everyone has their own view. Typos notwithstanding, that was my point.

Are we not allowed to fly short-haul F in the morning anymore? We aren't arguing on the best status runs or best value here, everyone can fly at any time at any cost as they see fit.

I concur with the recommendations ... Oak panelled and golden glitzy they may be; EK lounges have F&B of a general high standard.
I haven't been to the SYD Business lounge in a long time. I have never been to the SYD Emirates lounge either. I am there Friday week in the morning so may just visit both of these lounges for comparison but suspect early morning is not the best time to visit either lounge.

No sure what it is but breakfast just doesn't do it for me in any lounge.

I am aware of the buddying up system whereby QF WP or P1 does an invite.
Have done MEL QF F lounge and loved it.
BA SYD - SIN in BA F is too $$$, that's wayyyy off.
No way can I make it in F to US or UK either.
QF F lounges might be passé for some, but its the honey pot for me. Probably will try both SYD EK and QF F lounges in Oct.
