Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I ended up ordering the Wolf Blass Grey pack from Dans. Specifically picked the 2012 Shiraz over the 2013*. Price is about $5 more (meaningless I know... It comes down to $25 either way). A little annoyed that I received the 2013 anyway!

I wouldn't accept it. They explicitly advertised that you could choose 2012 or 2013. Don't let them get away with it, and don't let them try and have you go out of your way to rectify it!

They do say they can substitute but from what I have heard they are pretty good on refunding/replacing too!

Usually yes, but in this case I specifically selected the 2012 and it didn't have the caveat that they could swap it.

I stupidly didn't open the box when I did click and collect, so didn't notice until I got home (my local didn't have the 2012 so I drove a fair way to a store that did). Stupid me for thinking they wouldn't try to screw me.

I'm waiting to hear back from them tomorrow

Felt I should chime in with my cellarmasters experience on the discount codes from a couple of weeks back... and it wasn't good. No contact for a week after order, so called them and was told the order would be 'pushed' to be sent out to collect at my local BWS. Waited another couple of days without promised contact, then called again only to find the order 'cancelled' due to insufficient stock (had ordered the Blass Grey Label Cab Shiraz). Paid with gift card+CC, and am up to 4 business days now waiting for an agreed refund to my CC. To call my first experience with cellarmasters 'underwhelming' is an understatement.

On the bright side, picked up the same wines for basically the same price after all discounts via Dan murphys - with the bonus Brown label bottle!

Many of us find cellarmasters underwhelming at the best of times! But then they have these super-duper promos which are hard for us to resist.

They managed to deliver the correct vintages for my order. <redacted> Missing bottles turned up today.

Made my first CM purchase (woods crampton mataro) purely based on the $100 voucher and had no issues.

Evening all.
I thought I would pass on a bit of feedback from a few recent purchases.
Please note these were made with little research and knowing the generous returns offered by merchants.
I also only ordered to make the most of the recent coupon offers.
First of all 2 disasters.
1) Nua Brut from Dan Murphys. Absolute Kerosene at $84 for 12. This was a connections range purchase made on a whim because I enjoy the Nua Prosseco offered on Vinomofo. Dans are picking up the rest and refunding even thou it is a connections product. I think they are required by law. ( not advertised as kerosene)
2) Paxton 2013 Cabernet Shiraz 2013 ordered through Winemarket. If you ever want to experience what Brett can do to a wine then this is your baby. Wow barnyard and manure on the nose and in the mouth. Also Going back. Fast.

Now the successes:
1) Hallmark cuvée from Winemarket with coupons @ $24- a bottle. Beautiful Tassie sparkling with a great Georg Jensen stopper. This is a bargain.
2) New Eden Sparkling from Cellarmasters. @$15 a bottle I would rather pay a couple more and get Bird in Hand or Jansz but at $8- with the latest coupon this was a bargain buy.
3) Brookhill brut cuvée 9.50 at Cellarmasters. Good Value at this price. At $5 with the current coupon, ridiculous value.
4) Rorhlach Barossa Cabernet 2014 from Cellarmasters. After trying the Fox Gordon brothers and sisters Cabernet 2014 I thought I needed a second opinion of Barossa Cabernet 2014. wow these wines are so for apart. The B&S was the most refined wine I have had for years. This is not. A little grubby and untidy but loaded with flavour and will certainly enjoy some bottle time. 12.99 a bottle is about right but at $7 with the coupon I am super happy with this one.
5) Vasarelli Maria's Table Sangiovese 2014 from Cellarmasters. This is stereotypical Sangiovese. Light, flavoursome but a little single dimensional. A very pleasant light red for a warm day. At $11.49 this is fairly priced. At $6 this screams buy.
6) Leasingham bin 56 Cabernet Malbec 2012. $16.50 at Winemarket. Priced about right. They do it for $13 occasionally, yes it is value here, but with a 20% off coupon its $10 and seriously good at that price.

I have a few more to try, but overall the experiment has been worth it. If anyone has others experiences to share I would love to know you experience.
Cheers Birdyzone

One or two people in one of these (i.e. this, VM or 'Nice Wines') wine threads professed they enjoyed Maverick Twins Cabernet Blend most of all.

Well, it's $119 for a dozen delivered thru Winemarket for the next 3 hrs. Maverick Twins Barossa Cabernet Blend 2013 (12 Bottles) and a reminder that 'happybanker' code still knocks 20% off (if not already used), with cashback available as well. After all discounts, you could land that case for $90! Better even than VM have ever had Maverick Twins for...

I saw the email earlier and jumped

Yes, looking forward to trying this after all the positive comments. Have only had Maverick's straight shiraz and GSM blends previously.

I much prefer the cabernet blends to the GSM. I've had the 2009 and 2012, and I'd expect the 2013 to be good as well.

Has anyone tasted the 2011 twins cabernet blend?

I've got one bottle of the 2011 stashed away to share with my twin sister when we celebrate our 50th birthdays in a couple of months. I'm wondering how this compares with the subsequent vintages.

I'm guessing the 2011 vintage may be a little ordinary, so I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the 2013 vintage.
