Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I will dropping into the east doncaster store to buy two botts of the former zin. The hyperbole may be a tad overdone but the score, and the uniqueness surely put this in the must try department. My only stocks of zin were from the fo, west oz churchview st johns zin. Had two from the case. A beautifully elegant wine. This zin here will not be so elegant, but it wont matter.

My thoughts also - I'm expecting them soon!

I usually much prefer the Parola's Durif to the (more recent addition to the range) Zinfandel, including the 2013 vintage.
I've had some fabulous Parola's Durif over the years, particularly 2002 and 2004, still have a few of the 2004.
I haven't bought that many since about the 2006 vintage, they had a run of tough vintages in the region too and I find I can only cope with a limited number of 17+% a/v reds.

Further to my rant over my CM order of Wolf Blass being cancelled without advice.

I contacted them again today and went straight to a supervisor / manager. Went through the whole story.

He agreed that the service was below par and said will call me back after reviewing, however it was cancelled as not enough stock to fill all the orders so could not guarantee anything.

He called me back to confirm he has sourced 6 x bottles of 2012 as per my original order from a local Dan Murphys and they will text me when ready to pick up. 10 minutes later txt received with order ready at DM to collect.

not bad service recovery. so I can confirm that I had 2 different orders using $100 discount on each and both now fulfilled.

I'm still waiting for my call back on the CdP........

Is this any good?

Fowles Wine Are You Game? Sauvignon Blanc 2015

I can get 6 btls for $50, so about $8.30 a bottle.

Not a big savvy drinker myself, but mickeyc747 loves the stuff and it evaporates when we catch up for dinner.

The 2014 is pretty poorly reviewed on TWF.

For a cheap and cheerful Sav Blanc I like the Fox Gordon one. $9.50 from First Choice (has been cheaper elsewhere before but think this is the best atm):

Dropped past Dan Murphy tonight and the guys have heaps of grey label out on the floor.

Shop guy tells me sometime tonight or in the morning the new bundle is buy 6 x Wolf Blass grey or a few other wines ( not sure which ones ) and they give you 1 x bottle of Blass Brown Label.

No idea what the price will be, but may turn out to be ok if the pricing is keen

Bought a dozen 2014 Diana Madeline from Cullen's as it has not been released to retailers. The 99 score did get me interested.

Did they ring you?

I will pick up some, as well as the Mangan MMPV blend.

Apparently the Kevin John has flown out the door this year.

I got the phone call but they were only offering it at the same price as it is available online, so I decided to stick with purchasing in my own time

I'm not sure that's entirely true. Langtons are offering both the 2014 Diana Madeline and the Kevin John Chardonnay

I couldn't see any 2014

edit: wine searcher does list one other supplier from memory- just don't recall who it was

I used the magic words....Penfolds.....so I did get the 15% off with free delivery to my work office. Should be one that we can make rare by drinking it.
I am hoping that there is a 707 at tonight's Penfolds dinner in South Perth.

I'm in Perth tonight and had a look at going to the Penfolds do after seeing your post, but none of the cellar reserve wines really jumped out at me - and I have an early flight the next day.

Cullen offered me the standard 5% off 6 + $20 freight or 10% off 12 freight free
