So anyone importing goods from Egypt now has to ship it by sea...

I received the following email this morning from FEDEX:

Shipments from Egypt and Bangladesh prohibited into Australia

The Australian Government implemented restrictions under the Aviation Transport Security Act on the carriage of air cargo that has originated from, or transited through, Syria, Egypt, Bangladesh, Yemen and Somalia, effective December 19, 2015.

Transportation of goods from Syria, Yemen or Somalia are already prohibited by FedEx.

FedEx will cease picking up any shipments that originate in Bangladesh or Egypt and are destined for or transiting through any Australian destination with immediate effect.

Bangladesh is the interesting one in that list. Must be some specific warning?

Given the global clothing trade from Bangladesh this could impact some importers.

There have been concerns about Bangladesh for a while now. The Australian cricket team's tour in October was cancelled (reportedly because of credible, real and targeted threats against Australians (Cricket Australia language)) and the Socceroos were reluctant overnight visitors to Dhaka in November for a World Cup qualifier (flew in the night before the game and flew out immediately after claiming the 3 qualification points for the win). I guess the security/terrorism threat is ongoing.

True, the specific info is often helpful although the overall rating not so much - "Exercise a high degree of caution" covers a lot of countries....
