To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

I hope QF changes the courier company they are using - in Sydney they are using "Direct Couriers" and they are the shonkiest operation ever to the point where I think they've now stolen the item which was meant to arrive on Saturday - lots of phone calls everyday. Always a new excuse. Spoke to a manager at Direct Couriers who said "you weren't even meant to know you were getting anything so what's your problem". So 6 days later and no parcel.

That's fascinating. I'm in Melbourne but the same company was used and my experience mirrors yours, right down to the attitude - but not the possible theft, I should add.
I did give (rather gentle) feedback to QF. It seemed churlish to go into detail but QF should know that their efforts have really been spoiled - for some of us, at least - by the courier company.

Ditto :) Vintage Krug - how acceptable :)
I did appreciate the accompanying letter - which acknowledged me as a Long-Standing Platinum One Member. I wonder if this made a difference as to what was received?

Nice try - but I don't think so. :)
How "Long-Standing" are you. (Is that really how it was written? Quite formal. Maybe there is a new unannounced. P1 category? :))

Don't give up - my parcel was supposed to arrive last Saturday - (I received an email with a GPS tracker) - so I tracked - there was no "we missed you" or notification. I was advised the driver tried numerous times - asked for the times - not able to supply... "oh he must have been very busy"..probably Sunday .... then was was promised Monday - never turned up. So I rang after-hours - it appears to go to a mobile phone of someone who can make thing happen. I was told yes - delivery today after 4pm as I was flying in from CNS - of course it arrived at 1130am and LEFT in the publicly accessible mail room of my apartment building. Thankfully a neighbour bought it inside!!

I think I would have preferred the option of picking it up at the Sydney QF Business Lounge .....

The letter starts: "As one of our long standing Platinum One members since its launch in 2011..." (which is quite weird to hear it that way - I am not long term for QFF however - I have only been a member of QFF for 8 years)

Mine said "As one of our long standing Platinum One members, since its launch in 2011,........". Didn't really think about the wording (was too busy goggling at the wine).

Perhaps the first confirmation that not all P1s are equal. Which is fair enough. Would be nice if expectations were a bit better managed. Perhaps QF could tell lower level plebs like me that I am one their most valuable customers and accordingly will receive enhanced service at every opportunity - then I'd know anything was a bonus.

i am in awe of those of you that have been P1s for several years in a row. Huge amount of travel. Qantas is right to look after you. No (more) complaints from me.

If anyone isn't happy with their champagne I still have all the books from last year in mint condition. That's all I can say without breaching AFF T&Cs ;)

My total SC count has been pretty constant for the last two membership years - around 5400. Last year I didn't get anything at Christmas, this year I got the Krug. I suspect that the change is because I've earnt more SCs that have a ~ and hence have increased my value to QF - which kind of makes sense and is in agreement with the comment around different levels within the P1 category.

Sorry to burst the bubble about different levels of P1 but I re-qualified with exactly 3,600 SCs, most from Dom Y red-e-deal flights.
Hardly the most valuable P1 member.

On the contrary - it appears you and I are very valuable P1 members - we are both domestic air warriors - So we are classified: "eats mainly packets of nuts/pretzels or defrosted cake and rarely uses the First Class Lounge therefore saves QF lots of money in champagne and food" - so our bottle is in appreciation for the money we have saved them. :D

I did ~155 sectors domestically/NZ on QF last year but 80% of mine are flexis. If your P1 is on dom red-e-deals I bow my head to you in reverence!

Wow, Boomy! How many Dom Y flights a week are you doing? 3600 SCs worth is stunning. That cannot be fun, in any way.
My P1 SCs may cost a lot but most of them come from long haul at the pointy end. All are self-financed, so it is a total indulgence.

I feel feel I should send my QF Krug on to you! :):):)
