To all the newly-minted Platinum One frequent flyers out there... I'm curious to hear... what's been your experience so far?

Anything different?

Free upgrades?

... or all hype?

Sorry to burst the bubble about different levels of P1 but I re-qualified with exactly 3,600 SCs, most from Dom Y red-e-deal flights.
Hardly the most valuable P1 member.

that sounds like torture.

My status year ends in a couple of weeks, will end up on about 4700 SC give or take with a real mixed bag of flying classes and fare types. the only domestic J has been tagged onto intl flights, cant financially justify Dom J.
SQ ended up with a lot this year too, way more than I thought id done.

Mrscove misses the P1 status but when I suggested a couple of long cuts to Panama City she baulked. More than halfway thru her QF year she is at 1920 SCs and we have 3 SQ Suites bookings for our 2016 travel it looks unlikely she can get back there. I did enjoy the Cullen's Diana Madeline.

I think I'd baulk at that too !!!
Mind you I did go to BGI for a weekend :D
Enjoy the suites !!

I am dragging Mr Fifa to PTY twice next year :) to enable me to get to LTG.
When he groaned I said he could stay there for a few days and wait for me. Well, that went down like a lead balloon! So, he's tagging along and will grumble and ask how many flights we have left but I just ignore him and enjoy the experience :) :) :).

I won't have enough QF flights to prequalify P1 next year but have been underwhelmed by the experience to date so happy to move on.

I did ~155 sectors domestically/NZ on QF last year but 80% of mine are flexis. If your P1 is on dom red-e-deals I bow my head to you in reverence!

I'm doing about 200 Dom flights every year, mostly between the eastern capitals and some to Perth.
It's not that bad if you like flying and QF delivers a decent Y product. Not much difference between row 4 and rows 1-3 on B738s, especially on short flights but on flights longer than 3 hours I'm usually in the most premium cabin available ;)

I feel I should send my QF Krug on to you! :):):)

I think it's a very good idea :D

that sounds like torture.

Depends on your personality I suppose.
My idea of torture is working in the same office every day from 9 to 5.
My crazy flying won't last forever so I prefer to focus on the positives as I'm sure I'll miss this lifestyle one day once I go back to living like a normal person again :D

Well, if you are ever in Melbourne long enough, call in and collect it. :)

Being a loyal WP member I not getting any Krug at all!
Thanks Qantas But I don't want you to waste money.
Oil goes up again in 2016 and stresses the company.
Don't want you to experience a loss again thus affecting your staff, profit and fuel surcharges.

I'm currently at HSW with my UberX app open. What's your address again? :) :)

Then it's easy peasy. You could walk from there!

But I should warn you: I am on an Emergency Childcare roster, so be prepared to take on a two month old suffering a reaction to vaccinations. :) Can you hear the wailing from there?

That said, PM me, if you are brave enough. :)

Don't believe everything you read on AFF.

I have a relatively high PCV for a Platinum considering most of my SCs are cheap domestic red e-deals. It's not all about $ spend. Number of flights must be a factor as well.

How do you know this? considering PCV is invisible to us.

Upgrade to J delivered this morning for my Perth to Brisbane jaunt this afternoon. Flight sold out so I won't know if an opup or P1 special until I get to the airport. Either way, a nice Christmas surprise.

Nice! What's your average op-up rate? You seem to get quite a few on this route.
