No idea what medhead's going on about, but this kind of (in this case wildly inaccurate) sniping is a good example of why we shifted to what is essentially a noise-free data-centric mailing list. Facebook? Um, no.

I remember your PM and what prompted that PM. Your denials now do nothing to change my guess. Feel free to prove me wrong.

As for alleged sniping, perhaps that is related to the tone and content of your PM. i'd also note that since you deny being FFA then I'm not sniping at you at all. If that denial is, indeed, true.

Lifting information from here, FT and blogs and publishing it as their own sounds more of an Ausbt thing to me!

One or the other, thanks. I was thinking of one time when I was tooling around various threads and I came across a swath of threads being closed by one of the moderators - it may have been NM. May have been a glitch in the auto closure. Anyway clearly if anyone can post to a thread, its not officially 'dead'; if the thread could speak, it might say "I'm not dead yet ...' perhaps like this (from 0:55)

I love old posts or just about dead ones ..... Some of the topics have a life all of their, own and just plain interesting

The thread started by QF WP is my go-to thread for quite a while now. Discussions about everything and nothing. Hope that thread never needs to be closed.

I've known about this thread from the beginning but I've only just had a chance to catch up with it. It's been a crazy time since the school holidays started mid December and I've only been able to follow a few threads in specific sub forums. It's been about a month since I read anything in the Off Topic thread and I really enjoy that thread as it gives me a real insight into the personalities of some members.

I'll admit that I come and go a bit on AFF. I check the stats occasionally and I think I'm usually somewhere in the top 100 but it varies a bit. Family issues and network issue affect how often I can post.

I'm surprised I'm in the top 100 given the huge number of members and the fact that I only post in a few of the sub forums.

I really appreciate the advice and knowledge other members have given me. I have found the forum to be very supportive and understanding. I also enjoyed the two Melbourne social gatherings I was able to attend. I'm hoping to attend more but don't know when that will be due to family commitments.

It could get closed if it gets too big - sometimes an archive does wonders. That being said, I am amazed at the fact that people are still posting to it (I think it's the longest running thread) given we started it to keep people on topic on other threads.

Love the Off Topic thread. There are so many random conversations happening with multiple posters but people seem to keep track of disjointed conversations without skipping a beat.

On another forum they have had to cut off long threads as they were wreaking havoc with the search function.
