Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

I wonder how they came up with $10 = 870 points? And not 1000 points :)

Re: Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

they aren't auto redemptions. The check out operator has to manually apply the $10 discount. Well they have for the WWR$30 that we've redeemed so far.
The rewards are automatic. There is no option on the POS to redeem the discount. It is automatically applied when the card is scanned. There is an option to void the card scan and thus remove any discount that may have come from the scan.
The POS will pop up messages from time to time which have to be cleared by the operator before they can continue.

With the opt-in to QF points, Loyalty are still going to have a massive windfall in Jan 2017 when all those accounts expire.

An opportunity for genealogists?

We've been asked every time. Still doesn't change that the operator has to manually apply the discount. It isn't automatic.
That is not my experience with using the registers, what the full time check out staff have said about it, or what any internal documentation/staff training on the topic states.

don't you mean July? 18 months is the expiry on QFF points

From the WoW/QF press release...
Over the first six years of the Woolworths-Qantas relationship, around 9.4 million flights were redeemed using points earned at Woolworths. About 80 per cent of points redeemed by Woolworths shoppers were on flights and the remainder were for items in the Qantas store (where the most popular items are gift cards, household appliances and personal electronic devices).
So QF tracks the source and life cycle of each point enough to tell that x points earned at WoWs were used for y amount of flights/store items?

This entire revamped rewards program comes out of Woolworths not reading the data properly, making assumptions and deeming any points not used within a year meant they didn't care about said points.

As it is, they may be returning QF points to the program, but they aren't fixing the actual problem with the program - which they refuse to see despite many thousands of people telling them (repeatedly).

I was sent a new card, but am still using my old one as I want the QF points and was under the impression that until December 31st the old rules were in play. Also, I haven't received a single targeted offer to date.:(

I would have to disagree with this statement. It may well be 9.4 million flights however only PARTIALLY using points earned at WOW. The majority of points used to redeem these flights would have come from other sources

That is not my experience with using the registers, what the full time check out staff have said about it, or what any internal documentation/staff training on the topic states.

I don't have the benefit of internal documentation and can only report my experience. The first time being for a $43 shop:
Operator: "you have $10 available"
Me: "yes"
Operator: "you have $10 available"
Me: "Yes, that's right"
Operator: something like 'do you want to use it'
Me: 'Yes please'
Operator: touch screen
Me: Observe $10 taken from amount owing.

If that doesn't match internal documentation I must have misunderstood what was happening.

I understand you can use either card as they have same barcode.
I have received offers (but only today) despite old card use only

the old rules are in play regardless of which card is used. (new/old) I use the new and I'm getting points and WWR$

It doesn't matter which card you use. I have been using the barcode number only without physical card. You will get QFF points for spend > $30 until 31 December 2015. I have been checking my QFF account and points are there but I am also earning Woolworths dollars.

In the middle of the year, they changed the staff discount cards, new branding/different name. The only real difference was the new card forced staff into the EDR program while the old card was an opt in system. You had to activate the new card. I refuse to and won't use the new card. Still use the old one.

Crazily enough, we have 4 cards in the family, but only 3 were offered $10 off their next spend, by activating the email they received.

Card #1: used once in the last 6 months;
Card #2: used 90% of WW spending;
Card #3: used 5% of WW spending;
Card #4: used 5% of WW spending

Only cards 1, 2 and 3 were offered the $10 of *any* spend - mine missed out totally.

Came in handy this week at BigW for Christmas gifts:

- a new release DVD was price-matched from $44 to $25 and the $10 off made it $15;
- hardback novel on sale for $16 cost me $6;
- 2 Epson inks on sale cost my mum $3/cartridge.

Will have to see how the QFF points work, previously have been using those to keep my partners points from expiring - here's hoping in the next 18mths at least something is purchased that will give some WW pesos that can (eventually) be converted to QF points.

As others have said above though, so b****y confusing - the KISS principle is obviously lost on the WW marketing team.:rolleyes:

Edit: Just read the Press Release that RedRoo linked above, and it's still going to be a coughshoot on the FF earning:

"The new agreement will give customers the choice to convert their Woolworths Dollars, earned through buying orange ticket products, into Qantas Points at a conversion rate of 870 Qantas Points for every 10 Woolworths Dollars."

So regardless of how "wonderful QFF points are back" is touted from the rooftops, it's still only going to be at the whim of WOW Marketing as to what they ticket orange.

If 99.9% of the stuff ticketed orange is something you'd *never* buy - you're no better off than you were last week . . . . . . oh the wonders of marketing spin. :mrgreen:

This 100,000 times.

Quick off-topic question (probably answered elsewhere). I've just lost the wallet with my old mini (key-ring type) Woolworths card in it; if I cut down the new full-size one to just the bar-code will it still work?

"earned through buying orange ticket products"

I am guessing this is very unfortunately or badly worded. There are more ways to earn Woolworths dollars now than just the orange ticket items. Hopefully Qantas mean that any Woolworths dollars gained in the program can be converted to QFF if this is the desired reward.

Basically points are gone at most WW group stores and if you want points at Woolies you need to buy the WW money items to convert later.
