Hello Fellow Members,

Could you please let me know some websites I can book airline tickets

I know opodo.com , but I am interested in knowing other websites

Thanks
Vik

I forgot to mention that I am interested in reserving airline tickets , but not hotels

I will be thankful for your help

I use something like ITA matrix to search out potential fares, and then compare those with the airlines own website. I prefer to book direct rather than through an online agent when I can, in case things go pear shaped.

I used to use sites like expedia but found out that it was far too difficult to make even simple changes.
I tend to check prices with skyscanner and googleflights then book via the airline site
If you can find a good travel agent they can sometimes find 'obscure' fares
I've never got round to learning about ITA matrix

This is also my "solution".

Many thanks for your suggestions. I am looking at all these sites

In general I'd agree with posters above - airline websites are generally the best. They are competitive and if things go wrong or you need to make changes, usually easier and/or cheaper directly with the airline.

The main exception I'd suggest is STA Travel. Even for adults, I've seen fares on there for Qantas and United that have been hundreds of dollars cheaper than the respective airline sites (same flights, same day).

Of course always worth checking out other on-line agencies, and sometimes you cannot book certain flights direct with the airline, so OTAs are the only option.

Huge thanks Mel_Traveller. I did not know STA travel offers its services to non-students passengers. Many thanks again

I've often wondered how STA Travel do this but who am I to question it. I must say that skyscanner also sometimes comes up with fares via online operators much cheaper than the airlines.

They do it to get people in the door. they have a semi-decent buying power, but have to compete with flight center and also student flights (owned by flight center) who have market share. So i think they offer these specials with much reduced commissions to the company/the actual agent sitting across from you.

Of course like all travel agents they will then try the up-sell with accommodation and the likes to get more commission this way
