Just did my first voucher booking (we're slow to get around to things in Radelaide) and it all went smoothly. Was able to MMB immediately too.

Can't stop me now!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Called yesterday to fix up the last four voucher bookings. CSA said that the comments they normal remove were not in the booking already, so they thought I should be able to manage those bookings. My Flights app was showing me:

Warning 15106: This voucher cannot be used online. Please contact the Call Centre

Bit of time on hold. Then they fixed up the bookings and that warning dropped out of My Flights.

Seems to be the automatic process is working to remove comments for the first residual voucher, but is only doing have the job for the second residual voucher.

I haven't had a problem with the 3 that I have used thus far - but I always ensure to be paying more for my flights than the voucher total - don't want to residual runabout.

I have 4 to use and one with a booking made but not yet flown.

Well yes, vouchers work fine if used in total. The ongoing issue is the comments thing added to residual vouchers. This involves a trade off in convenience between purchasing $5000, say, in $50 vouchers or $500 vouchers. Strangely, I didn't want to manage 100 vouchers...

I wonder if this offer will be back this Christmas. This time last year it had already been running for a week.

I've been wondering about this too. Down to $100 of vouchers and haven't paid Credit Card fees to QF on any flights for all of 2015 except for a one way AKL - MEL that vouchers cannot be used for.

An aside, but at the start of the year an agent claimed a voucher *could* be used for such a booking and offered to set it up. The quirk was obviously the currency valud of the voucher which is in AUD exchanged to NZD (or whatever your departure point is) but this agent claimed it could be done. This came up when I was using a voucher to book MEL-AKL and the agent asked about how I would get back and I said I'd purchase it separately (in F on a sale fare).. that's when she said a voucher could be used. I didn't do it though (come to think of it, maybe I'd booked it at that point).

As for this year I am thinking more and more that no, they are dropping this promo in favour of these endless QF mall / store promos and the like. :(

I have no doubt that a wise and knowledgeable Travel Agent may be able to manage this but I'm stuck with SST, the QF Premium desk and the online booking page - and none of them will allow me to use a voucher that has a booking originating outside of Australia.

That said, it's a minor inconvenience and not paying Credit Card surcharges on around 20 bookings certainly adds up and is contributed to my wine appreciation fund! :D

This was a Premium agent (QF). I doubt non QF TA's have access or deal with QF gift vouchers tbh.

As I say it was just this one agent who suggested it could be done and offered. Yes, I was surprised and told them that I thought it was only ex-AU and stuff and they said yeah for the website bookings, but it can be done manually.

Maybe that agent *thought* they could do it, or maybe they had in the past and were a great agent - I honestly don't know. I have no proof of it being possible other than what this one Premium res agent claimed to me nearly a year ago.

I've only heard it reported by WP1s, so maybe an unpublished benefit.

I never said you said that. Only that WP1s are the only ones who have reported it. I then speculated.

With all of these things, it comes down to who answers the phone. You can get many different stories.

For example, an operator on Monday told me that my X class booking couldn't be upgraded, despite the fact I requested for a seat to be released in U class. It then dawned on me that she didn't answer Premium Desk so I just agreed with her, hung up and called the premium desk the next day who released the seat and didn't even charge me a change or service fee.

The voucher is just a pseudo ticket with value between two made up destinations. There is no technical reason it couldn't be used for bookings outside Australia, it would just be a policy.

Agree, agree, agree

There's been a couple times I've rung QF (I'm only scum after all) and the "Premium" line has answered instead of the Gold line. The Premium line couldn't possibly be any more disinterested, dismissive and unhelpful to this SG. The SG line is great when I get them.

I get there might be currency conversion issues with vouchers and the fact that they are sold under Australian Ts&Cs which could create issues if they are then used to ticket something originating overseas. But they obviously are willing to bend the rules. It's probably just too hard to do for everyone.

How long does it take for a Wish Gift Card (Electronic ones) to arrive once ordered via the Entertainment Book?
