MU737 from PVG to MEL is 97 minutes late this morning (Sunday 28 December 2014) and is not forecast to arrive until 1127. MU738 remains publicly shown as meeting its timetabled 1200 departure from MEL back to PVG but this is impossible.

A332 B-5931 is the plane.

Today's MU562 from SYD to PVG departed SYD at 1422 when its off blocks time should have been 1200. Are these delays due to PVG airport checkin or runway congestion?

Delays at PVG up to 2 hours are standard and is runway slot related most of the time with Chinese Airspace Restrictions a factor at times also.

All you need is weather and they push out to 4-5 minutes separation per movement, they are very cautious about movement separation and do not push tin anywhere as much as we do in Australia or New Zealand and will never drop separation below 2 minutes for any movement under any circumstance.

This morning, validating what mushez said above (although that AFfer was discussing PVG not NKG), MU727 from NKG is descending into SYD and will be about 70 minutes late (due in at 0930) though it has made up time as it took off from NKG more than two hours after it was meant to push back from the gate last night. The return flight MU728 is timetabled to depart at 1030 so will be late.

This morning's MU561 arrival in SYD from PVG is delayed from its usual 0900 to 1025. Perhaps more weather related delays? MU562 is still shown as departing SYD on time at 1100 but assuming that it is the same plane, this is impossible.

MU737 from PVG to MEL is two and three quarter hours late this morning (4 July) and hence not due in MEL until 1145, delaying the return MU738 from its timetabled 1100 departure until 1300 or so.

Chinese airspace is frequently used by the military: apart from weather this is probably the single biggest cause of delays. CX even has signs up at HKG airport warning of this, and recently some CX flights from Shanghai have been delayed overnight, such is the extent of the delays.

MU735, the 1335 arrival in SYD ex PVG did not run today, the same fate that has befallen MU736 back to PVG on Monday 26 October.

MU740, the 2230 hours from MEL to PVG is cancelled this evening. Given QF's codeshare arrangements with MU, it is entirely possible that AFFers use this flight fairly often.

MU562, the 1200 on Sunday 1 November 2015 departed SYS suppoesdly at 1530 according to Sydney Airport but did not take off until 1658. B-6099 is the Airbus A330 operating the flight. One could expect some QF codesharing passengers to be aboard.

MU737 from PVG to MEL arrived 74 minutes late at 1114 this morning (Sunday 8 November) but is shown as departing on the return MU737 at 1215 which is probably unrealistic. That would only be 15 minutes late.

MU740 the 2230 hours from MEL to PVG is again cancelled this evening, Friday 13 November 2015.

MU738 is the 'high noon' 1200 MEL to PVG. Today (Saturday 19 December) it took off at 1257 and is therefore amended to arrive at 2009 instead of 1920 tonight. A332 B-5931 is the plane.

Sunday 27 December's MU737, the 2005 codeshare with QF from PVG to MEL did not depart until 2151. Arrival is predicted at 1155, an hour and 55 minutes late.

On Monday 11 January, MU735, the 'redeye' 0015 hours from PVG to SYD departed at 0057, 42 minutes late but is not expected to arrive until 1445, 70 minutes late. A332 B-5902 is the craft. MU flights are now liklely to have some QE patrons on board given the codesharing: it would be good to have an occasional report as to how delays were handled, bearing in mind that mainland Chinese airspace can be busy with not just regular public transport flights but also military operations.

Friday 15 january 2016's MU562, the 1200 from SYD to PVG departed at 1326 with arrival expected an hour and three quarters late at 2105 tonight.

The little publicised CNS - PVG nonstop flights operated by MU are highly likely to have QF FF members on board given the codeshare agreement.

Today (Saturday 13 February) MU752, the 09555 hours departure did not take off until 1356 this afternoon. Arrival is forecast for 1950, four hours and five minutes late. Aircraft is B-6121, an A332.

MU745, the 0015 from PVG to SYD today did not depart until 0840 hours and hence was not due in SYD until 2045 tonight in lieu of 1335. MU736 has yet to depart and must surely be in danger of no so doing prior to the 2300 hours curfew, although FR24 suggests it will take off at 2255.

The Tuesday 15 February SYD arrival of MU561 in SYD is just occurring with A332 B-5961 running about two hours 50 minutes late with gate on chocks likely to be at 1250.

UPDATE: MU562 departed SYD at 1411 this afternoon (131 minutes late) and should arrive in PVG at 2140 this evening, 140 minutes tardy.

The weather forecast for Shanghai looks to be cold but sunny (an apparent contradiction, but possible) and there is no mention of fog, so are these delays related to airport congestion because of Chinese New Year (holiday time) or the military closing off airspace at times?
