Rugby World Cup 2015

Surprised to see Ireland lose so Australia almost guaranteed spot in final. New Zealand for all their criticism they have copped look good.

I lose it when Australian fans and media talk up our chances in the soccer world cup. Expectations totally out of touch with reality. Slightly the same here. If we get to final it's a great result. If we win it then it's likely one of the greatest upsets of all time. Still good to dream as it takes focus off lifes real problems....

I'd hardly say it's a guarantee!!! The Pumas are looking very strong.

Realistically, any of the top 6 teams could/should win the RWC so I'd don't believe it'd be "one of the greatest upsets of all time". There isn't a team that can play it's best rugby 100% of the time, and any little slip up can mean the difference between moving forward and being knocked out. It's happened so many times previously!

Very true. With all of Ireland's injuries and suspensions, Argentina were easily favourites in my mind.

Australia on the other hand were lucky to avoid a big upset.

The final penalty was totally correct. That decision is getting attention because it happened right on full time.

The more critical error in my view was the Yellow Card given to the Scotland outside centre. The Wallabies scored two tries while they had an extra man (IIRC).

I do agree that the penalty was likely correct. Yet in the 57th minute the same infringement was given as "accidental" and was only a scrum to Australia. I think Scotland have a very minor case for some consistency.

And the Yellow Card was just wrong.

Agreed on both counts.

My post this morning was after watching the game live. After watching some replays, including slow motion replays, I'm now of the view that it was an accidental offside and should have been a scrum to Australia.

Refereeing is a tough job.

There were some bad calls for each of the sides. In the end they evened out and it was probably right that Australia won.

I'd agree with that now. However quite understandable mistake from Joubert who didn't have benefit of slow-mo and the tournament rules say no recourse to TMO.

Not sure how close the thrown drink bottle came to him but must say if he was aware of it quite reasonable to vacate the pitch tout-de-suite

Having seen the replays, I could not agree that there was a mistake.

Looks like that's not actually the case. At least the 2007 1/4 final debacle will now be subsumed by the 2015 1/4 final. Further adding to the call for more T-MOBILE Referrals. I wonder if a version of the (cricket) captain's request ( max say 2) for a TMO referral could get up?

The stars have aligned and I'm off to London next Tuesday for the Bronze Final and Final.

Have managed to get EY First Aprtments over on points and SG Suites on way back.

Now for a Wallabies victory and I will have the trifecta!!

Bring on the party
