I know this is probably done to death here but i just wanted to confirm.

For the QF flights that do stopovers do they count as 1 or 2 segments on qualifying flights for status?
Im mainly talking about QF11/QF12 SYD - LAX - JFK & QF1/QF2 SYD - DXB - LHR.
I read a post from 2010 that said these only counted as 1 segment if you were flying through but i wanted to see if things had changed and what peoples experiences are.

Proper stopovers will see the flights count as two segments. Transits mean they will count as 1 segment.
So flying QF1 SYD-DXB-LHR will count as 1 segment unless you stay in DXB and continue on a separate days QF1 in which case it counts as 2 segments for qualifying.

Some see options such as QF1 SYD-DXB, and QF9 DXB-LHR as a way to maximise sector earn in preference to QF1 or QF9 the whole way through.

Pity. You may may have seen my other thread there i mentioned i plan to do it in J. Will make gold but won't quality as its only 2 segments. Guess I'll have to find some cheap domestic run to do before I go away.

So in your current QF membership year you will only have done either QF1/2 SYD/LHR/SYD or QF11/12 SYD/JFK/SYD?

JQ domestic flights aren't as cheap anymore for a quick status run because you can't book a plus bundle without bags so you're paying for it even if you don't use it.

Always check QF sale fares because there's often not much difference in the price between QF & JQ with the 'new' bundle.

Worked well when QF1 and 9 had similar timings. These days better (timing wise) to transfer to QF code on service operated by EK. From memory the ~ only require QF code not necessarily QF metal.

IM thinking about next years membership year.
It was more that i would have 700SC;s and still not be gold. Im current QP so once i hit SG that goes on pause. So id rather waste additional time.
There is still time before i go anyway. IM sure ill find something.
