Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

Shame. Have been waiting for June 2016 reward seats to open up for Jetstar Honolulu - Sydney, which happened sometime during this morning. No J (jetstar J, anyway) classic awards available. But one available 3 days later. Seems I will have to stay back in Honolulu 3 nights after MrP departs. Life is so unfair sometimes.....;)

Thinking of starting a thread "what to do in Honolulu without MrP" thread.
Now, I can change his flight to mine as his is a paid fare. But as he will be away from work for four weeks he is always counting the days away. So I figure he will want to get back to work, right?

Should I start a poll?

Actually this requires you to do a little more planning to ensure to take full advantage of the opportunity that has presented itself.

Your first load of shopping can go home with Mr P and then you'll have your full luggage allowance for the second lot of shopping.

This means you need to plan what to buy at the first shop and then what to buy at the second shop.

Win/win for you it seems. :)

Good to see you're at an organisation far, far from the 'bleeding edge'.

I don't know about evil.

I would describe it as logical, efficient, effective, pragmatic, sensible

Also you may get coupons from the first round of shopping which you can redeem on the second. A travesty not to!

The guys are coming up with great ideas here! Who would have thought!
Gals - shall we invite them to the AFF'ers Shoppers Society?

Yeah. Agree. That slipped quietly through a couple of years ago. Thanks Julia.

Sorry but that was introduced in the May 2013 budget which Joe Hockey certainly wasn't allowed to frame-

https://www.ato.gov.au/General/New-legislation/In-detail/Direct-taxes/Income-tax-for-individuals/Net-medical-expenses-tax-offset-phase-out/[/URL]

There seems to be some confusion here. My issue is not the phase out of this tax benefit. But the mechanism of that removal. Which gets to the short reply: "How dare Gillard try to repair the budget". Of course, it is probably a sensible measure since Hockey is keeping it. Hockey could've reversed the net medical expense removal, just like he has for the bank deposit levy.

I'm not confused. I was replying to/quoting blackcat20. I didn't read your post.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

When did the Medicare levy go up to 2%. And I had to pay a surcharge as well.

I really need to pay attention. I am getting ripped off badly. Yeah, yeah I know if I am paying a surcharge then I am well off. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Re: Who says share markets ALWAYS make money over long time periods?

JohnK the current top personal tax rate is 49% up from 46.5% a couple of years ago. This includes the latest levies.
Lowering the company tax rate to 28.5% is a joke when the top personal rate should be dropped to 35% to incentivize hard work.
Don't look at the share market or the exchange rate this morning if you have high blood pressure.

But as you well know that's not the actual rate. Someone on $200k a year only actually pays 32.17% tax for example. Obviously that number goes up as the income goes up.
