New QF points calculator

In a nut shell you've nailed my issues, I want to get to LTG to start with.

Beyond that most of my travel is domestic, I only book sales and I quite often book sales on routes VA doesn't fly :p

Seems like a simple choice from there ;)
Of course - YMMV.

Being already LT SG with over 28000 LTSC I perceive no real need for any QF pursuit other than the basic Emerald status.

There are many flights on CX/BA/AA where you get more value for your points sending it to the AA program instead of to QFF. Even as a QF Plat you would get more out of sending it to AA as a non-status member.

It simply doesn't make sense to credit oneworld flights to QF unless you want QF status to kick in or you have no means to shift other points earning opportunities to another program.

Domestic travel is another story, but if you're after as many points as possible then VA earning is far superior to QF if you're on anything except super-super discounted sale fares or first class.

That's the Achilles heel in my plans...

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Can you get a non-AU issued card?
Many other countries give 2x,3x or even 5x more points for intl transactions... and some post directly into AA/BA... blows QFF out of the water

Stupidly I didn't take advantage when I could've a few years ago  This was pre-AFF days....

TBH I haven't looked into it thoroughly ... just assumed that I haven't got the right circumstances to be able to set this up.

My preference is move over to BAEC (have the OS address sorted) but I'm not comfortable (YET) splitting the points haul. If I end up doing it - I'd most likely accumulate the points into SQ and forget about OW.

Where do the actual mile numbers come from? Are they manually loaded? Are they from Amadeus?

The difference in the miles can be quite a lot - 28 miles in the case of BKK-KUL!

Qantas calculator for MH (Amadeus?):
BKK-KUL 749 miles

Malaysia Airlines booking website (Abacus?):
BKK-KUL 777 miles

Singapore Airlines calculator (Amadeus?):
BKK-KUL 760 miles

Just to add to the confusion, GCM gives 754 (Great Circle Mapper) and Web Flyer gives 743 (Mileage Calculator - WebFlyer :: The Frequent Flyer Authority).

750 miles is also a Staus Credit boundary. 750 miles earns 40 SCs in J, while 751 earns 60 SCs in J.

Thought under simpler and fairer it was zone based not Distance based :)

Anybody else notice that there are sometimes differences between the QF calculator and what JQ shows when you select a bundle?

I would think the buck stops with the QFF terms, not whatever the JQ site has misinformed you. I've seen errors in the QF booking screen too though.

Anyone else have issues when entering in this city pair (all other city pairs work fine), it just doesn't want to compute! tried it on multiple computers too?
SIN-CMB it just swirls around but never loads, soon as you enter another city works fine.

Just off the top of your collective heads does anyone know what the SC earn for J SIN-CMB on UL code?

The same thing is happening for me as well even when I try in reverse CMB to SIN. On the top line there's a pop-up that asks for your location which should be where the airline and date goes not what city you are in.

When you agree to letting it know your location it then inserts BNE (or your applicable city) into the box which isn't what you want. It looks like a programming error of some sort.

If you add another line however the box appears to add in the airline you're flying on between that city pair plus the calendar to select the date of travel.

I still get no joy ie getting the swirly thing like you are even when I add in more drop down boxes. It won't come up with a drop down menu for the travel class either.

"Would the work experience kids please report to the principal's office immediately."

I think this has been an issue for at least 6 months. Generally I use BKK-CMB as a work around as both SIN/BKK-CMB should earn the same SC's.

thanks all for the replies. red roo pls fix the calculator :)
