American Airlines B757

Hi everyone, I have just learnt that my upcoming AA flight which was originally a 767 has now been substituted with a 757. I have pretty much got the choice of every seat in the F cabin and would like to know if anyone would have preference of row"s 1 or row 2. this is about a 5 & half hour flight. Any pluses or minuses. Thanks

No. Last year they changed to: E/S: forward-back; W/N: back-forward.

That's assuming last year's changes have become permanent. There seemed to be some confusion at the time.

I'd probably select row 2 - more legroom and space to stretch out. There's virtually no recline on those seats anyway, so there won't be much of an issue if the person in front reclines. It's a pretty dire plane in terms of seating - but they are wide.

You have a retrofitted domestic 757.If not retrofitted 6A,B are missing.The international 757s sometimes appear domestically but only 4 rows F/J.
The J seats will be the old recliner seats.The international 757s are getting lie flat seats-identical to the A321 transcon J seat.

Doing FEBO again on the 10 sectors I flew last month.
The ability to pre-order your entree online takes away any of the hassle though.

Not surprised if it's reverted to FEBO. Why they tried to change it, I do not know, as presumably the net effect would be zero.

I remember somebody saying they didn't select row 2 in case they get bumped for an air marshal.

Some 757's I've been on have wi-fi but the older ones with the chunky beige leather seats & state of the art cathode ray tube drop down tvs don't.

FEBO is so annoying for us Aussies who aren't expecting it. Try to remember to pre-order tour entree, they WILL run out of one of the options by the time they get to row 1 or 2

It isn't officially FEBO anymore. It was changed to E/S: forward-back; W/N: back-forward (which is what most flight numbers used to be anyway) in part due to the renumbering of flights to fit in the extra US flights under the AA code which resulted in a number of flights becoming the same number in both directions (ie, JFK-BOS-JFK has the same number for both legs).

What happens in practice is that the crews do whatever they want.
Being able to pre-order entree's helps (since people who preorder are meant to get theirs first anyway), assuming the order goes though.

re Air Marshal: that is a good point... although windows should be safe!

Yeah... I feel the pain. I did a LAX-HNL after our 767 with lie-flats went tech It's not an enjoyable way to spend 5+ hours... but better than coach! (which looked truly horrendous)

It's all horrendous I think. Cannot believe AA put this junk on the Hawaiian routes.
The ancient TV didn't work during the safety demo and I pointed it out to "Patty" as she went through the cabin afterwards. She proceeded to do an impromptu version of the safety video for the front rows of F that wouldn't have looked out of place on Saturday Night Live :mrgreen:

AA regularly flies 757s between LAX and the Hawaiian islands.

Worse yet are the couple I flew with once who was going HNL-LAX-BOS-LHR, all 757s, LAX-BOS redeye in the middle (only flight I was on). THAT'S painful, even up front!

Never have had an international 757 LAX-BOS, in at least half a dozen flights on a 757 on that routing. Occasionally they have had a 763 LAX-BOS but that hasn't happened in years (since 2012 from my recollection). The internationally configured 757s are mostly flying shorter/thinner South America routes out of MIA, and shorter/thinner Europe routes out of JFK. They only make an appearance in BOS normally related to the NA summer seasonal BOS-CDG service by AA.

And 5-6 hours of lie-flat after 10 hours of AA domestic F still wouldn't work so well for me .
