Vinomofo Wine Deals

Thanks Beefarmer, great read.

I tried the Robert Bowen Cab Sav the other night, haven't drunk any alcohol for a few days so not sure if my taste buds were in tune but I loved it. The best wine I have tasted from VM for quite some time. This wine is $60 down to $24 and I have tasted some like this in the past and very sceptical when I see big price reductions like this, my negative sides says the wine is grossly overpriced and only way to unload it is to sell it at a realistic price. In my eyes this is not the case with the Robert Bowen. If / when it comes up again I will buy a few more.

I also tried this last night. I was slightly less impressed, it just felt like it was lacking some body to me - definitely on the "medium" side. Dropped away quite quickly, so I think maybe needs a little more age. That said, I wasn't really eating anything well paired with it, and I got the feeling a nice steak would have lifted the experience (doesn't it always?). I think a $60 RRP would leave me feeling dudded. $24 I think is about right...

Does anyone know what the latest VIM email wines are?

Any ideas what the Pemberton Savvy is?

Can't remember if it was 2013 but this fits the bill:
Pemberley Sauvignon Blanc 2013 - White Wine

This was rated 92 by JH. I bought a case.

From the producer:
The 2013 vintage is a further development of this style of wine and has been matured on its yeast lees for 8 months. Maturation on yeast lees gives a more textural mouth feel and adds a touch of complexity. This technique is employed by winemakers in making Chardonnay wines and by winemakers in the French region of Sancerre, the home of Sauvignon Blanc.
The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc developed excellent fruit flavours of gooseberry, pineapples and passionfuit.
The resultant wine is packed full of flavour on the nose and palate, the extra lees aging evident with more texture, richer, persistent flavours and a long, crisp finish. Pemberley - Sauvignon Blanc Pemberton 2013 - Domaines and Vineyards

I think you are correct, and I still have a few bottles of the 13 in my cupboard! Thought it sounded familiar, was quite a while ago when they had it listed.

Tock,
You had me doubting myself so tried the Robert Bowen again last night. I agree with your assessment, my tastebuds the other night must have been on song. Apologies to anyone that has bought the wine based on my earlier notes, must have been some irrational exuberance.

I think the black market w.a.cabernet will smash the Bowen out of the park...im already in for a six pack.

yes, that's the one Hyland...no one's tried this before but here's a few pointers.......1. straight cabernet 2. 2011 3. west oz 4. reserve I think ..as I say, I look forward to getting I next week.......in the interim, just been notified that the west oz shiraz/cab is coming very soon. normally , I prefer the barossan duos, namely lakebreeze bernoota - just magic at undera twenty, but I thought I'd give the w.a. one from this week a chance. as youd expect, it will have more elegance and grace...well you would wouldn't you...as aside, I was reading in the last week about someone enjoying an Abercrombie cabernet..crikes at $95, it would want to be good. and I am sure it is....because it's from double ewe aye ! Salute...off to lunch with a 2011 salena estate vermentino, and some indian with wheelchair man pete.
