re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

^^^ surely you wouldn't have been issued a boarding pass had you gone to the airport...?

Who knows? I never showed up. But up until the last minute, my reservation is still with both airline (including the seat I selected). If I was available I would love to try, except if I checked in then I have to fly.

I've had tickets cancelled before with other airlines. Generally if you go to CMT and airline to punch in the reservation number, it shows "error", "ticket cancelled by airline" or something along that line. But this one with LM was definitely "confirmed"!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I once put in my first name and middle name the wrong way round on an Egypt Air booking. It was a sale fare/restrictive fare so the airline couldn't change the name so they put in a note that it was the wrong way round and confirmed it would be fine to check in etc.

I tried to claim for the FF points at SQ and they said I never flew the flight.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I guess different airlines deal with minor name related mistakes in different ways. While some will let it slide others may ask for name change fee at check-in as happened to my dad once but never heard of anyone denied boarding for that reason.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I recently asked Qantas about a booking I have with QF, CX and AA where somehow my first and middle name were joined. The agent couldn't have been less worried about it. Maybe not as bad cause all the letters are there.

That is pretty much standard for them to be joined. You don't even need to put a middle name in the booking so just safe to leave it out I reckon.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Lifemiles has launched mobile app, available for both iPhone and android. I downloaded hoping to book flights with it and bypass the IT glitch. But, no, you can't book partners airline with the app. So its pretty useless app for us. Don;t waste time downloading it (unless I've missed something)

Ummmm… why am I not surprised?

Thanks for posting, so I don't waste my time on it.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hey all,

More of a TG/SQ question than LM specific but I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight as to whether TG F pax in Sydney have access to say the SQ F lounge in Syd?

They do. Star alliance lounge access based on class of service allows First class passengers to enter any Star alliance first class lounge.

I haven't tried myself, but as per star alliance rule I believe you can.

According to Chris from AUSBT, he said yes.

According to Avid Flyer and Aussie Flyer on their trip report in YouTube, (with video evidence) the answer is also yes.

So I think it's pretty clear.

Although you might wanna try out the new star alliance lounge in SYD as well. I think they serve freshly shucked oyster.

we did that once when we flew F with TG. Lounge dragon at SQ told us to go to the "other" lounge, we said no, we had been there and did not like it, and wanted this lounge instead. After consultation with others, they let us in. SQ F lounge is small, quiet, and smaller food selection. Can't comment about the booze though! :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Well I suppose this is the question then - If you had a TG F ticket departing from Syd with approx 2 hours to kill which lounge would you select? Let's rule out FF status that get's people into lounges other than Koru, SQ Bus and First.

Yes you will, but TG will direct you to the Koru Club and it's also likely SQ will too. Just tell them you'd rather use their lounge as a Star Alliance F passenger.

Will do - Thank robd!

The star alliance rule is one thing, but whether the lounge will follow the rule is another.

In May this year I was flying business class on EVA ex-BNE but I was denied access to Koru lounge in BNE. I told them per star alliance rule I should be allowed access, but I was told that EVA has special arrangement with Qantas Club, so I should go to that lounge (even though the Koru Club was virtually empty!)

Anyway, as many have suggested to me, Qantas Club in BNE was a lot better than Koru club so I didn't lose much. But it still p*** me off! I'm still wondering if I should write a complain to Air NZ!

I also had been denied access to JAL Sakura lounge with Qantas business class boarding pass in NRT, was told to go to Qantas Club in NRT. Left a real sour taste when you got denied entry when flying business class.

Why not try both and judge it for yourself. But by reading the review the new Koru club seems pretty good.

But I guess the Koru club will be more packed than SQ F lounge.
