If this is your first time, I wouldn't wait at all. Go for the next one straight away.

FWIW, NAB have advised that in their criteria for application, if you churn and burn (and spend very little), it looks bad on your "NAB history" for future applications....

I took up the 0% balance transfer/purchases for 1 year offer-means I won't be churning it for a while

Well they are hardly going to encourage it! But really, I don't know what factors NAB use in their credit assessments but there are usually other factors that banks use that carry a lot more weight!

They don't seem to care. I've churned multiple times with them and not had a problem.

Well, I wonder how much they really care, also. In any case, I'll be keeping mine for a while as 1.5pts/$1 on the Amex is my main card where Amex is accepted / without surcharge. They'll get their money's worth out of me, I'm sure.

If I already have this card is there any way to take advantage of this offer? I guess I would need to close my account and then apply again? Which is a lot of work.

Has anyone had experience with calling to cancel the card and mentioning the sign up bonus and getting the points without needing to cancel the card and open a new account?

I'll be doing something similar, until just before the annual fee is due, or I need to lower my combined credit limit by another $6K - whichever comes sooner.

A lot of work? One phone call or one letter is a lot of work? If this is the case chasing bonus point offerings is not for you.

I probably shouldn't have said a lot of work. I have had a credit card with NAB for more than 10 years. I migrated to this card maybe around 5 years ago. During the time at NAB I have had my credit limit increased many times. One of my concerns with closing and applying again for the account is that they would give me a lower credit limit. Especially now that I believe (not certain) banks can now see the credit limits provided by other bank credit cards?

This card direct sweep?
Got a letter saying 6 buys get 2000 points before 31 July!

just binned my card after getting the 40k bonus and putting a few ato payments through before it closed.

to be fair the retentions guy did his best to try to keep my business, but was also clued on about the qantas points.

NAB was nice enough to charge me the first annual fee and when I complained told me to call Qantas.....Qantas was just as confused as I was and after another call to NAB they quickly apologised and erased the fee. I should really do as you did and find another card to switch to.
