Change to 72 hour open seat selection?

So far ok for me, tried as recent as this afternoon. Row 4 opened up T-80.

It's working fine for me. I have a flight on Monday evening which just opened up more seats for me as usual yesterday afternoon.

Maybe it was just a temporary glitch?

60H till my next flight on the new config A330. In J but rows 1 to 4 showing as blocked on EF. Have pre selected row 5. Per-Syd red-eye. ZZZZZ I was able to get upgraded on EBA Mel to Perth on the 27th April in that case the seat map didnt open up till 24H before the flight.

It seems really unlikely that is the issue as most flights are full these days but that has never prevented seat selection. And most don't even know the T80 window exists and they wouldnt have been able to select pre 11 row before then anyway. Certainly the pax that ended up in the seats I wanted were not FF.

Based on BP for a couple and others, just lack of knowledge about things that happen on planes and their conversation. But I didn't check 'em all out - but as I was curious as to why I couldn't pre select seats I was on a mission to determine a cause for that.

Also MrP was popped onto that flight in the last hour before departure and was row 6 (WP). And he had a shadow that flight!

Yep.

Previously I've always had some fairly reasonable options, and in some cases a lot better. This is the worst I've ever seen. Not even worth choosing one of the available options, I think I'm better off taking pot luck from the auto-assignment.

You're probably battling a couple of factors, limited seat options for bronze that have been cut do further by a very full flight.

T-80 opened up as normal for my flight this Wednesday. Selected 4A on the 73H as usual. Fingers crossed a WP would select 4C so I can share their shadow.

Interestingly, the seat map remained open after T-80 whereas it usually blocks off rows 4-6 shortly after T-80.

Probably something like that. It's pretty annoying.

I've been checking regularly and some seats have disappeared and then come back, and other new ones have been exposed. It has varied between 3 and 5 seats available. e.g. 29C was available, disappeared, then came back again.

I've sometimes found they open and close and open again over a period of hours after T-80.....

Flights go to airport control, would you believe it, at T-80.

Until the refurbs are in the majority, I'd expect this to happen fairly often.
