Just travelling at the moment so can't search properly, but just wondering if there has been a change to seat selection 72 hours out.

Rows 4-11 blocked out still for flights tomorrow (Syd-Mel) and Friday (Mel-Adl).

The magic number is meant to be T-80 but I have found with a couple of my recent flights that row 4 remains blocked well past this time.

I don't believe there have been any changes. I just selected 4C for a BNE-MEL flight this Saturday (roughly 72 hours out).

im seeing the same thing on qantas.com - front rows blocked @ less than T-80 (MEL-SYD)

Been seeing these blocked seats using the seat alert app a lot lately usually within 12hrs of departure. This is the vacant seat map using a wp login for today's 566. The QF system seems to have changed recentlyImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1430886848.587182.jpg

And not in a good way!

Seems like we can't select seats anymore...

The seat next to me is blocked.

Does anyone know at what point in time are seating allocations handed over to the airport?

I am not sure E/F is useful on this topic currently. There has been an issue with Expert Flyer and Qantas seat maps for several weeks.

Here is the guts of my query:

To: The ExpertFlyer.com Team
Subject: Priority Seating (Premium Service)

While reviewing Qantas seat maps for the last week or so, it appears that my status
is not being taken into account. I have removed my Qantas Frequent Flyer number and
re-entered it; taken off the leading zero and added it back; all to no avail.

My status is still reflected when selecting seat using Qantas.com ...

Thank you for your email. The issue is on Qantas's end, apparently earlier this
week they started ignoring frequent flyer information on seat map requests
unless it's part of a full blown itinerary and ticket. We checked and this is happening
on all the reservation systems, but other airlines that take FF information
(BA, JL) are not having any issues, so it's something that Qantas changed.
We opened up tickets with multiple GDSs to have them get Qantas to fix
whatever they changed, we'll let you know if they are successful. ...

Must be something wrong with Qantas though as that is where the seats are being blocked for selection.

Its like Qantas is ignoring status in its own booking system because that isn't showing up correctly for WP and SG. All seats behind row 11 are selectable.

One thing I noticed recently when flying SYD/BNE which was the last sector on an international ticket, was that all the forward seats appeared occupied so I thought "bugger, no shadow." This was on an airport kiosk in the lounge not using E/F.

However when I got on board the a/c there were shadows on 4E, 5BE, 6BE so I did end up with a spare seat in the middle.

Generally the airport will be able to allocate seats about 3 days prior so they can pre-seat groups etc before checkin opens for through checked pax from overseas ports.

When I checked in at BCN it was 12noon local time on Sun (AEST 2000 Sun) for a 0735 flight on Tue which would explain why I was sequence 001.

Had no issues last week. Would be a shame if access to seats at T-80 hours disappears.
