QF Boxed Dinners

re 9:20am MEL-CNS getting "lunch" because Breakfast time finished at 0900 so the only option, in the world of QF anyway, is a Lunch service. Besides, it would feel weird to me having breakfast, then ice cream prior to landing (all my CNS flights have finished up with a maggie beer IC ).

re unappealing eating from boxes. I agree the presentation can be a bit dire, but then again how long have we been eating take away chinese/asian food out of boxes and it's reasonably accepted? I'm not defending QF so much as saying that it's not THAT outlandish a concept, and in the main works.

I did wonder when I saw bangers and mash as an option - that seems quite surprising as a box option to me.

your 'foibles' are not QFs problem as thousands of other pax seem to be able to eat food 'from a box'...it's the taste that counts .

QF usually serve "snack" between breakfast and lunch hours like the rice snacks and BB cookie I got this morning on the 9am MEL-BNE.

yes, agreed though MEL-CNS at over 3 hours is classed as a midcon or at least medium haul flight so gets a more full meal service.

I have a VA flight on Tuesday (SYD-BNE) departing at 6:30pm - listed as a 'snack'.....

On the 694 21/4/15. Officially "Chicken Curry". Unofficially "Glug" with all the flavour of a "Chicken Tonight" dish .... without the finesse.

Would go for the alternative next time - whatever it was.

Very tasty!

Yes, TK do a very good meal service. I had something similar on a short Turkish domestic flight last year. The hot meal served on TXL-IST though (approx. 2.5 hours) was nothing short of excellent.

I was on Qantas evening, BNE-MEL flight a few weeks back, I forgot about the food in a box, I have been so used to the meals on the east/west flights.

The meal was ok but a bread roll would have been nice. LOL

Vegetarian Special meal on QF453 last night, much appreciated after the almost hour delay due to storms on the tarmac.

It was two types of curry and rice, pretty decent I must say. The 'normal' options were a Green Chicken curry and ham pasta salad.

The couple I've had were decent. The food has not been any worse, even if the presentation is.
