I am trying to decide which business class plane and seat to select for a European trip. I read that many of the 777's have angled seats that are not completely flat. I called Emirates and they assured me that the 777 planes on this itinerary are the same right through and have a lie flat bed, even though the seat selection seating chart for my trip begs to differ. I would have a 15 hour stopover in Perth on the 777 or a 10 hour stopover in Dubai on the A380.
I have read many reviews and still not sure so I would appreciate any opinions on this. Thanks.

The EK 777 is angled flat, and is in a 2-3-2 formation, as opposed to mini suites on A380. I personally find the EK 777 fine if you are travelling with some one, but others on here do not rate the product highly at all

It might be flat but it is angled. They are ok - we don't have a choice from Adelaide.

Given the choice between fully flat and 1-2-1 vs angled flat and 2-3-2, absolute no brainer for me...fully flat and 1-2-1 any day of the week.

In my view there is no doubt that, of the two, the seat is better on the A380 and, as others have noted, fully flat. However there is a much greater "sense of space" in the 777 cabin. Although it I strictly true to call the A380 1-2-1, in terms of space it is really 2-4-2.

My personal experience is limited to Qantas, Cathay and the two Emirates configurations, each time in a party of 5. Of these, my thought is that the Emirates A380 cabin is by far the most cramped. As scwappy noted, it may just be that the limitations of the 777 cabin are more apparent for a solo traveller.

A380 has shower and bar (shared with J cabin). Both features are fantastic in my view.

Yes we spent many a happy hour at the onboard bar, met some very interested pax, its a top feature.

My flights now include both planes! Seat 11A on the A380 and seat 7D on the 777..

Well done, the mini-cabin on the 777 is a great choice, quiet and in my opinion preferable to the larger cabin. Upon check-in we always request a seat in row 6 if available, giving the advantage of greater legroom and feeling of spaciousness. I have never been able to book these online, only at check-in. Enjoy your flights :)

Are the showers available to people travelling in business, or are they just for First class?
Yes. Showers, Caviar, Dom Perignon , Henassy Paradis are only for F.

But EK love extends warmly to QF people, especially WPs (more so than QF love:) so you never know!

Ditto, A380 in lie flat and mini suite over angle lie flat of 777.

I see some people prefer 777 because of the seat width being wider than on A380, and yes 777 is a lot wider than A380 but I still would go A380.

Others I see discuss less length on A380 in lie flat configuration than 777, which is also true, but for most isn't an issue for window or middle seats, but is an issue for isle seats that have around 200mm less length than window/middle seats to allow gap for people getting through to their window/middle seat, however this is not the issue if your seat is the first or last in the two cabins.

I love the storage compartments by your side on A380 so can just pop laptop in them, as well as the ledge part of the mini bar.

I found the 777 perfect for my taste nice and cosy with a window seat, EK staff seem to be a little more attentive rather than the 380 as they congregate around the bar but the extra space did impress me but so much plastic wood and I also agree the mini bar ledge came in very handy at times, perhaps report back on your preferences
